2nd Samuel 13

1 Now it was clear to Joab, the son of Zeruiah, that the king's heart was turning to Absalom.

1 Thug Ióáb mac Zarúá faoi deara go raibh croí an rí ag caitheamh i ndiaidh Aibseálóm arís.

2 And Joab sent to Tekoa and got from there a wise woman, and said to her, Now make yourself seem like one given up to grief, and put on the clothing of sorrow, not using any sweet oil for your body, but looking like one who for a long time has been weeping for the dead:

2 Chuir Ióáb fios go Teacóá dá bhrí sin ar bhean chliste, agus dúirt sé léi: “Lig ort a bheith ag caoineadh; cuir éadach caointe ort; ná cuir ola ort féin; agus iompair thú féin mar bhean a bheadh ag caoineadh an mhairbh le fada an lá;

2 Envió Joab á Tecoa, y tomó de allá una mujer astuta, y díjole: Yo te ruego que te enlutes, y te vistas de ropas de luto, y no te unjas con óleo, antes sé como mujer que ha mucho tiempo que trae luto por algún muerto;

2 und sandte hin gen Thekoa und ließ holen von dort ein kluges Weib und sprach zu ihr: Trage Leid und zieh Trauerkleider an und salbe dich nicht mit Öl, sondern stelle dich wie ein Weib, das eine lange Zeit Leid getragen hat über einen Toten;

3 And come to the king and say these words to him. So Joab gave her words to say.

3 téigh go dtí an rí agus abair a leithéid seo leis,” agus chuir Ióáb a raibh le rá aici ina béal.

4 And the woman of Tekoa came to the king, and falling on her face, gave him honour and said, Give me help, O king.

4 Tháinig an bhean ó Theacóá chun an rí, agus chaith sí í féin ar a béal ina láthair, agus thug ómós dó, agus dúirt: “Fóir orm, a rí!”

5 And the king said to her, What is your trouble? And her answer was, Truly I am a widow, and my husband is dead.

5 “Cad tá ort?” arsa an rí léi. “Mo chreach, is baintreach mé; tá mo chéile tar éis bháis.

6 And I had two sons, and the two of them had a fight in the field, and there was no one to come between them, and one with a blow put the other to death.

7 And now all the family is turned against me, your servant, saying, Give up him who was the cause of his brother's death, so that we may put him to death in payment for the life of his brother, whose life he took; and we will put an end to the one who will get the heritage: so they will put out my last burning coal, and my husband will have no name or offspring on the face of the earth.

7 Anois tá an fine go léir éirithe i gcoinne d'ionailte: ‘Tabhair ar láimh an fear a mharaigh a dheartháir,’ a deir siad; ‘beidh a anam againn in éiric anam an té a mharaigh sé, agus millfimid an t‑oidhre chomh maith.’ Múchfaidh siad ar an gcuma sin cibé síol atá fágtha ar mo theallach agus ní fhágfaidh siad ainm ná sliocht ag m'fhear céile ar chlár na cruinne.”

8 And the king said to the woman, Go to your house and I will give orders about this.

8 “Téigh abhaile,” arsa an rí ansin leis an mbean, “agus tabharfaidh mé féin orduithe i dtaobh do cháis.”

9 And the woman of Tekoa said to the king, My lord, O king, may the sin be on me and on my family, and may the king and the seat of his kingdom be clear of sin!

9 Dúirt an bhean ó Theacóá leis an rí: “A thiarna rí! Go raibh an chiontacht ormsa agus ar mo mhuintir! Go raibh an rí agus a ríchathaoir gan locht!”

10 And the king said, If anyone says anything to you, make him come to me, and he will do you no more damage.

10 “Tabhair chugam an fear a rinne bagairt ort,” a dúirt an rí, “agus ní leagfaidh sé lámh go deo arís ort.”

11 Then she said, Let the king keep in mind the Lord your God, so that he who gives punishment for blood may be kept back from further destruction and that no one may send death on my son. And he said, By the living Lord, not a hair of your son's head will come to the earth.

11 Dúirt sí ansin: “Glaodh an rí, lena thoil, ar ainm an Tiarna, a Dhia, d'fhonn nach ndéanfadh an díoltasaí fola a thuilleadh marú agus mo mhac a mhilleadh.” “Dar an Tiarna beo,” ar sé, “ní thitfidh ribe de ghruaig do mhic chun na talún.”

12 Then the woman said, Will the king let his servant say one word more? And he said, Say on.

12 Ansin dúirt an bhean: “Lig do d'ionailt rud éigin eile a rá le mo thiarna an rí.”

13 And the woman said, Why have you had such a thought about the people of God? (for in saying these very words the king has put himself in the wrong because he has not taken back the one whom he sent far away.)

13 “Cén fáth más ea,” arsa an bhean, “a ndearna an rí comhcheilg in aghaidh phobal Dé agus gan an té a dhíbir sé a thabhairt ar ais abhaile - mar leis an mbreith seo déanann an rí é féin a dhaoradh.

13 Das Weib sprach: Warum bist du also gesinnt wider Gottes Volk?

14 For death comes to us all, and we are like water drained out on the earth, which it is not possible to take up again; and God will not take away the life of the man whose purpose is that he who has been sent away may not be completely cut off from him.

14 Tá an bás i ndán dúinn go léir; is cuma sinn nó uisce a doirteadh ar an talamh nach féidir a bhailiú le chéile aris; ní mó ná sin a ardaíonn Dia duine ón mbás. Déanadh [an rí] mar sin seift ar son an té a díbríodh le nach bhfanfadh sé i bhfad i gcéin uaidh ar deoraíocht.

15 And now it is my fear of the people which has made me come to say these words to my lord the king: and your servant said, I will put my cause before the king, and it may be that he will give effect to my request.

15 Is é cúis faoinar tháinig mé le labhairt ar an ábhar seo le mo thiarna an rí, mar gur chuir daoine eagla orm, agus rith sé le d'ionailt: ‘Labhróidh mé leis an rí; b'fhéidir go ndéanfadh an rí mar a iarrfaidh a ionailt air.

16 For the king will give ear, and take his servant out of the power of the man whose purpose is the destruction of me and my son together from the heritage of God.

16 Mar déanfaidh an rí rud orm agus déanfaidh sé a ionailt a fhuascailt ó lámha an té a ghearrfadh mise agus mo mhac mar aon liom amach ó oidhreacht Dé.

17 Then your servant said, May the word of my lord the king give me peace! for my lord the king is as the angel of God in his hearing of good and bad: and may the Lord your God be with you!

17 Go ndéana briathra mo thiarna an rí,’ a dúirt mé liom féin, ‘mé a chur chun suaimhnis. Mar tá mo thiarna an rí ar aon dul le haingeal Dé ag scagadh olc agus maith.’ Go raibh an Tiarna do Dhia leat!”

18 Then the king said to the woman, Now give me an answer to the question I am going to put to you; keep nothing back. And the woman said, Let my lord the king say on.

18 Thug an rí freagra uirthi á rá: “Ná seachain aon cheist atáim a chur chugat, le do thoil.” “Cuireadh mo thiarna an rí a cheist chugam,” ar sí.

19 And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with you in all this? And the woman in answer said, By the life of your soul, my lord the king, it is not possible for anyone to go to the right hand or to the left from anything said by the king: your servant Joab gave me orders, and put all these words in my mouth:

19 “Nach bhfuil lámh Ióáb ar do chúl sa ghnó seo go léir?” d'fhiafraigh an rí. D'fhreagair an bhean agus dúirt: “Chomh cinnte agus atá tú i do bheatha, a thiarna liom agus a rí, níl dul as ar dheis nó ar chlé ó na nithe a dúirt mo thiarna an rí liom. Sea, is é d'óglach Ióáb a d'iarr é seo orm; chuir sé na focail seo go léir i mbéal d'ionailte.

19 Y el rey dijo: ¿No ha sido la mano de Joab contigo en todas estas cosas? Y la mujer respondió y dijo: Vive tu alma, rey señor mío, que no hay que apartarse á derecha ni á izquierda de todo lo que mi señor el rey ha hablado: porque tu siervo Joab, él me mandó, y él puso en boca de tu sierva todas estas palabras;

19 Der König sprach: Ist nicht die Hand Joabs mit dir in diesem allem? Das Weib antwortete und sprach: So wahr deine Seele lebt, mein Herr König, es ist nicht anders, weder zur Rechten noch zur Linken, denn wie mein Herr, der König, geredet hat. Denn dein Knecht Joab hat mir's geboten, und er hat solches alles seiner Magd eingegeben;

20 This he did, hoping that the face of this business might be changed: and my lord is wise, with the wisdom of the angel of God, having knowledge of everything on earth.

20 D'fhonn athrú treo a chur ar do chúrsaí a rinne do shearbhónta Ióáb mar sin; ach tá eagna mar atá ag aingeal Dé ag mo thiarna; tá fios gach a dtarlaíonn ar talamh aige.”

21 And the king said to Joab, See now, I will do this thing: go then and Come back with the young man Absalom.

21 Dúirt an rí le Ióáb ansin: “Ceart go leor! Bíodh d'achainí agat! Imigh agus tabhair leat ar ais an t‑ógánach Aibseálóm!”

22 Then Joab, falling down on his face on the earth, gave the king honour and blessing; and Joab said, Today it is clear to your servant that I have grace in your eyes, my lord king, because the king has given effect to the request of his servant.

22 Chaith Ióáb é féin ar a bhéal ar an talamh, thug ómós don rí, agus bheannaigh é. “A thiarna liom, agus a rí,” arsa Ióáb, “tá a fhios ag do shearbhónta anois go bhfuil fabhar faighte aige i do láthair, a thiarna rí, mar go ndearna an rí faoi mar a d'iarr a shearbhónta air.”

23 So Joab got up and went to Geshur and came back again to Jerusalem with Absalom.

23 Chuir Ióáb chun bealaigh agus tháinig go Gisiúr agus thug Aibseálóm ar ais go Iarúsailéim.

24 And the king said, Let him go to his house, but let him not see my face. So Absalom went back to his house and did not see the face of the king.

24 Ach dúirt an rí: “Maireadh sé leis féin, ina theach féin; fanadh sé as mo radharc!” Chuir Aibseálóm faoi leis féin ina theach féin dá bhrí sin, agus níor tháinig sé i láthair an rí.

25 Now in all Israel there was no one so greatly to be praised for his beautiful form as Absalom: from his feet to the crown of his head he was completely beautiful.

25 Ní raibh oiread agus duine in Iosrael le moladh de bharr a scéimhe an oiread le hAibseálóm; ní raibh máchail air ó mhullach a chinn go bonn a choise.

26 And when he had his hair cut, (which he did at the end of every year, because of the weight of his hair;) the weight of the hair was two hundred shekels by the king's weight.

26 Nuair a bhearradh sé de a cheann gruaige - rud a dhéanadh sé ag deireadh gach bliana; bhearradh sé ansin é mar go mbíodh sé róthrom dó - mheádh sé an ghruaig, dhá chéad seicil de thomhas an rí.

27 And Absalom was the father of three sons and of one daughter named Tamar, who was very beautiful.

27 Rugadh triúr mac agus iníon d'Aibseálóm; Támár a b'ainm dá iníon agus ba sciamhach an bhean í.

28 For two full years Absalom was living in Jerusalem without ever seeing the face of the king.

28 Chaith Aibseálóm dhá bhliain in Iarúsailéim gan teacht i láthair an rí.

29 Then Absalom sent for Joab to send him to the king, but he would not come to him: and he sent again a second time, but he would not come.

29 Ansin chuir Aibseálóm fios ar Ióáb lena thabhairt féin i láthair an rí, ach ní thiocfadh Ióáb chuige. Chuir sé fios air an dara huair, ach ní thiocfadh Ióáb chuige.

30 So he said to his servants, See, Joab's field is near mine, and he has barley in it; go and put it on fire. And Absalom's servants put the field on fire.

31 Then Joab came to Absalom in his house and said to him, Why have your servants put my field on fire?

31 D'éirigh Ióáb agus d'imigh leis go dtí a theach go hAibseálóm. “Cén fáth,” ar sé, “gur chuir do ghiollaí mo ghort trí thine?”

32 And Absalom's answer was, See, I sent to you saying, Come here, so that I may send you to the king to say, Why have I come back from Geshur? it would be better for me to be there still: let me now see the king's face, and if there is any sin in me, let him put me to death.

32 D'fhreagair Aibseálóm á rá le Ióáb: “Féach, chuir mé scéala chugat: ‘Tar anseo chugam d'fhonn go gcuirfidh mé thú go dtí an rí leis an teachtaireacht seo: Cén fáth ar tháinig mé ar ais ó Ghisiúr? B'fhearr dom a bheith ann fós! Lig dom anois dul isteach i láthair an rí; má táim ciontach, cuireadh sé chun báis mé.’ ”

33 So Joab went to the king and said these words to him: and when the king had sent for him, Absalom came, and went down on his face on the earth before the king: and the king gave him a kiss.

33 Chuaigh Ióáb chuig an rí agus thug an teachtaireacht dó. Chuir seisean fios ar Aibseálóm agus tháinig sé go dtí an rí, chrom go talamh ina láthair agus chaith é féin ar a bhéal os a chomhair. Agus thug an rí póg d'Aibseálóm.
