1 And the Lord sent Nathan to David. And Nathan came to him and said, There were two men in the same town: one a man of great wealth, and the other a poor man.
1 L'Éternel envoya Nathan vers David. Et Nathan vint à lui, et lui dit: Il y avait dans une ville deux hommes, l'un riche et l'autre pauvre.

1 Y Envio Jehová á Nathán á David, el cual viniendo á él, díjole: Había dos hombres en una ciudad, el uno rico, y el otro pobre.
1 Und der HERR sandte Nathan zu David. Da der zu ihm kam, sprach er zu ihm: Es waren zwei Männer in einer Stadt, einer reich, der andere arm.
2 The man of wealth had great numbers of flocks and herds;
2 Le riche avait des brebis et des boeufs en très grand nombre.
2 Bhí tréada agus táinte ag an bhfear saibhir, flúirse díobh.
2 El rico tenía numerosas ovejas y vacas:
2 Der Reiche hatte sehr viele Schafe und Rinder;
3 But the poor man had only one little she-lamb, which he had got and taken care of: from its birth it had been with him like one of his children; his meat was its food, and from his cup it took its drink, resting in his arms, and it was like a daughter to him.
3 Le pauvre n'avait rien du tout qu'une petite brebis, qu'il avait achetée; il la nourrissait, et elle grandissait chez lui avec ses enfants; elle mangeait de son pain, buvait dans sa coupe, dormait sur son sein, et il la regardait comme sa fille.
3 Ní raibh ag an bhfear bocht ach uan baineann, aon cheann beag amháin a cheannaigh sé. Bheathaigh sé í agus d'fhás sí suas leis féin agus lena chlann, ag ithe a chuid aráin, ag ól as a chupán, ag codladh ar a bhrollach; ba chuma nó a iníon féin leis í.
3 Mas el pobre no tenía más que una sola cordera, que él había comprado y criado, y que había crecido con él y con sus hijos juntamente, comiendo de su bocado, y bebiendo de su vaso, y durmiendo en su seno: y teníala como á una hija.
3 aber der Arme hatte nichts denn ein einziges kleines Schäflein, das er gekauft hatte. Und er nährte es, daß es groß ward bei ihm und bei seinen Kindern zugleich: es aß von seinem Bissen und trank von seinem Becher und schlief in seinem Schoß, und er hielt es wie eine Tochter.
4 Now a traveller came to the house of the man of wealth, but he would not take anything from his flock or his herd to make a meal for the traveller who had come to him, but he took the poor man's lamb and made it ready for the man who had come.
4 Un voyageur arriva chez l'homme riche. Et le riche n'a pas voulu toucher à ses brebis ou à ses boeufs, pour préparer un repas au voyageur qui était venu chez lui; il a pris la brebis du pauvre, et l'a apprêtée pour l'homme qui était venu chez lui.
4 Nuair a tháinig taistealaí ag lorg lóistín, níorbh áil leis an bhfear saibhir an strainséir a bhí tagtha chuige a chothú as a thréada agus as a tháinte féin, ach ina ionad sin rug sé ar uan an bhochtáin agus d'ullmhaigh é mar bhéile dá chuairteoir.”
4 Y vino uno de camino al hombre rico; y él no quiso tomar de sus ovejas y de sus vacas, para guisar al caminante que le había venido, sino que tomó la oveja de aquel hombre pobre, y aderezóla para aquél que le había venido.
4 Da aber zu dem reichen Mann ein Gast kam, schonte er zu nehmen von seinen Schafen und Rindern, daß er dem Gast etwas zurichtete, der zu ihm gekommen war, und nahm das Schaf des armen Mannes und richtete es zu dem Mann, der zu ihm gekommen war.
5 And David was full of wrath against that man; and he said to Nathan, By the living Lord, death is the right punishment for the man who has done this:
5 La colère de David s'enflamma violemment contre cet homme, et il dit à Nathan: L'Éternel est vivant! L'homme qui a fait cela mérite la mort.
5 Tháinig taom feirge ar Dháiví in aghaidh an fhir: “Dar an Tiarna beo,” ar seisean le Nátán, “tá an bás tuillte ag an bhfear a rinne é sin.
5 Entonces se encendió el furor de David en gran manera contra aquel hombre, y dijo á Nathán: Vive Jehová, que el que tal hizo es digno de muerte.
5 Da ergrimmte David mit großem Zorn wider den Mann und sprach zu Nathan: So wahr der HERR lebt, der Mann ist ein Kind des Todes, der das getan hat!
6 And he will have to give back four times the value of the lamb, because he has done this and because he had no pity.
6 Et il rendra quatre brebis, pour avoir commis cette action et pour avoir été sans pitié.
6 Caithfidh sé an t‑uan a aisíoc faoi cheathair, as ucht a leithéid a dhéanamh agus sin gan trua gan taise.”
6 Y que él debe pagar la cordera con cuatro tantos, porque hizo esta tal cosa, y no tuvo misericordia.
6 Dazu soll er vierfältig bezahlen, darum daß er solches getan hat und nicht geschont hat.
7 And Nathan said to David, You are that man. The Lord God of Israel says, I made you king over Israel, putting holy oil on you, and I kept you safe from the hands of Saul;
7 Et Nathan dit à David: Tu es cet homme-là! Ainsi parle l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Je t'ai oint pour roi sur Israël, et je t'ai délivré de la main de Saül;
7 Ansin dúirt Nátán le Dáiví: “is tusa an fear. Seo mar a deir an Tiarna Dia Iosrael: ‘D'ungaigh mé thú i do rí ar Iosrael, agus d'fhuascail mé thú as láimh Shóil.
7 Entonces dijo Nathán á David: Tú eres aquel hombre. Así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel: Yo te ungí por rey sobre Israel, y te libré de la mano de Saúl;
7 Da sprach Nathan zu David: Du bist der Mann! So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Ich habe dich zum König gesalbt über Israel und habe dich errettet aus der Hand Sauls,
8 I gave you your master's daughter and your master's wives for yourself, and I gave you the daughters of Israel and Judah; and if that had not been enough, I would have given you such and such things.
8 je t'ai mis en possession de la maison de ton maître, j'ai placé dans ton sein les femmes de ton maître, et je t'ai donné la maison d'Israël et de Juda. Et si cela eût été peu, j'y aurais encore ajouté.
8 Thug mé teach do mháistir duit agus mná do mháistir i d'ucht duit; thug mé teaghlach Iosrael duit agus teaghlach Iúdá, agus dá mba nár leor sin, thabharfainn oiread eile duit.
8 Yo te dí la casa de tu señor, y las mujeres de tu señor en tu seno: demás de esto te dí la casa de Israel y de Judá; y si esto es poco, yo te añadiré tales y tales cosas.
8 und habe dir deines Herrn Haus gegeben, dazu seine Weiber in deinen Schoß, und habe dir das Haus Israel und Juda gegeben; und ist das zu wenig, will ich noch dies und das dazutun.
9 Why then have you had no respect for the word of the Lord, doing what is evil in his eyes? You have put Uriah the Hittite to death with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife; you have put him to death with the sword of the children of Ammon.
9 Pourquoi donc as-tu méprisé la parole de l'Éternel, en faisant ce qui est mal à ses yeux? Tu as frappé de l'épée Urie, le Héthien; tu as pris sa femme pour en faire ta femme, et lui, tu l'as tué par l'épée des fils d'Ammon.
9 Cad ab áil leat ag maslú bhriathar an Tiarna, agus ag déanamh an ní is gráin leis? Threascair tú Úiríá an Hiteach leis an gclaíomh agus thóg tú a bhean chugat mar chéile agus chuir tú chun báis é le claíomh na nAmónach.
9 ¿Por qué pues tuviste en poco la palabra de Jehová, haciendo lo malo delante de sus ojos? A Uría Hetheo heriste á cuchillo, y tomaste por tu mujer á su mujer, y á él mataste con el cuchillo de los hijos de Ammón.
9 Warum hast du denn das Wort des HERRN verachtet, daß du solches Übel vor seinen Augen tatest? Uria, den Hethiter, hast du erschlagen mit dem Schwert; sein Weib hast du dir zum Weib genommen; ihn aber hast du erwürgt mit dem Schwert der Kinder Ammon.
10 So now the sword will never be turned away from your family; because you have had no respect for me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.
10 Maintenant, l'épée ne s'éloignera jamais de ta maison, parce que tu m'as méprisé, et parce que tu as pris la femme d'Urie, le Héthien, pour en faire ta femme.
10 Ar an ábhar sin ní bheidh an claíomh go brách i bhfad ó do theaghlach, ó léirigh tú go bhfuil drochmheas agat ormsa agus ó ghlac tú bean chéile Úiríá an Hiteach mar bhean chéile agat féin.’
10 Por lo cual ahora no se apartará jamás de tu casa la espada; por cuanto me menospreciaste, y tomaste la mujer de Uría Hetheo para que fuese tu mujer.
10 Nun so soll von deinem Hause das Schwert nicht lassen ewiglich, darum daß du mich verachtet hast und das Weib Urias, des Hethiters, genommen hast, daß sie dein Weib sei.
11 The Lord says, From those of your family I will send evil against you, and before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to your neighbour, and he will take your wives to his bed by the light of this sun.
11 Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Voici, je vais faire sortir de ta maison le malheur contre toi, et je vais prendre sous tes yeux tes propres femmes pour les donner à un autre, qui couchera avec elles à la vue de ce soleil.
11 “Seo mar a deir an Tiarna: ‘Déanfaidh mé d'aimhleas a chothú as do theaghlach féin. Os comhair do chuid súl féin tógfaidh mé do mhná céile agus tabharfaidh mé do do chomharsa iad, agus luífidh sé le do mhná céile faoi aghaidh na gréine seo.
11 Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí yo levantaré sobre ti el mal de tu misma casa, y tomaré tus mujeres delante de tus ojos, y las daré á tu prójimo, el cual yacerá con tus mujeres á la vista de este sol.
11 So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will Unglück über dich erwecken aus deinem eigenen Hause und will deine Weiber nehmen vor deinen Augen und will sie deinem Nächsten geben, daß er bei deinen Weibern schlafen soll an der lichten Sonne.
12 You did it secretly; but I will do this thing before all Israel and in the light of the sun.
12 Car tu as agi en secret; et moi, je ferai cela en présence de tout Israël et à la face du soleil.
12 Ghníomhaigh tusa faoi rún; gníomhóidh mise os comhair Iosrael ar fad agus faoi sholas na gréine.’ ”
12 Porque tú lo hiciste en secreto; mas yo haré esto delante de todo Israel, y delante del sol.
12 Denn du hast es heimlich getan; ich aber will dies tun vor dem ganzen Israel und an der Sonne.
13 And David said to Nathan, Great is my sin against the Lord. And Nathan said to David, The Lord has put away your sin; death will not come on you.
13 David dit à Nathan: J'ai péché contre l'Éternel! Et Nathan dit à David: L'Éternel pardonne ton péché, tu ne mourras point.
13 Dúirt Dáiví le Nátán: “Pheacaigh mé in aghaidh an Tiarna.” Ansin dúirt Nátán le Dáiví: “Chomh fada agus a bhaineann leis an Tiarna, tugann sé maithiúnas duit i do pheaca; ní chuirfear chun báis thú.
13 Entonces dijo David á Nathán: Pequé contra Jehová. Y Nathán dijo á David: También Jehová ha remitido tu pecado: no morirás.
13 Da sprach David zu Nathan: Ich habe gesündigt wider den HERRN. Nathan sprach zu David: So hat auch der HERR deine Sünde weggenommen; du wirst nicht sterben.
14 But still, because you have had no respect for the Lord, death will certainly overtake the child who has newly come to birth.
14 Mais, parce que tu as fait blasphémer les ennemis de l'Éternel, en commettant cette action, le fils qui t'est né mourra.
14 Ach ó thug tú barr masla don Tiarna tríd an ngníomh seo, gheobhaidh an leanbh a ghin tú bás.”
14 Mas por cuanto con este negocio hiciste blasfemar á los enemigos de Jehová, el hijo que te ha nacido morirá ciertamente.
14 Aber weil du die Feinde des HERRN hast durch diese Geschichte lästern gemacht, wird der Sohn, der dir geboren ist, des Todes sterben.
15 Then Nathan went back to his house. And the hand of the Lord was on David's son, the child of Uriah's wife, and it became very ill.
15 Et Nathan s'en alla dans sa maison. L'Éternel frappa l'enfant que la femme d'Urie avait enfanté à David, et il fut dangereusement malade.
15 Ansin chuaigh Nátán abhaile. Breith Sholaimh Leag an Tiarna a lámh ar an leanbh a rug bean chéile Úiríá do Dháiví agus tháinig tinneas trom air.
15 Y Nathán se volvió á su casa. Y Jehová hirió al niño que la mujer de Uría había parido á David, y enfermó gravemente.
15 Und Nathan ging heim. Und der HERR schlug das Kind, das Urias Weib David geboren hatte, daß es todkrank ward.
16 So David made prayer to God for the child; and he took no food day after day, and went in and, stretching himself out on the earth, was there all night.
16 David pria Dieu pour l'enfant, et jeûna; et quand il rentra, il passa la nuit couché par terre.
16 Rinne Dáiví achainí chun Dé ar son an linbh; rinne sé troscadh dian; chuaigh sé isteach abhaile agus chaith an oíche ar an talamh lom.
16 Entonces rogó David á Dios por el niño; y ayunó David, recogióse, y pasó la noche acostado en tierra.
16 Und David suchte Gott um des Knäbleins willen und fastete und ging hinein und lag über Nacht auf der Erde.
17 And the chief men of his house got up and went to his side to make him get up from the earth, but he would not; and he would not take food with them.
17 Les anciens de sa maison insistèrent auprès de lui pour le faire lever de terre; mais il ne voulut point, et il ne mangea rien avec eux.
17 Tháinig oifigigh a theaghlaigh agus sheas siad thart timpeall air; d'iarradar air éirí ón talamh, ach dhiúltaigh sé agus ní ghlacfadh sé bia ar bith leo.
17 Y levantándose los ancianos de su casa fueron á él para hacerlo levantar de tierra; mas él no quiso, ni comió con ellos pan.
17 Da standen auf die Ältesten seines Hauses und wollten ihn aufrichten von der Erde; er wollte aber nicht und aß auch nicht mit ihnen.
18 And then on the seventh day the child's death took place. And David's servants were in fear of giving him the news of the child's death: for they said, Truly, while the child was still living he gave no attention when we said anything to him: what will he do to himself if we give him word that the child is dead?
18 Le septième jour, l'enfant mourut. Les serviteurs de David craignaient de lui annoncer que l'enfant était mort. Car ils disaient: Voici, lorsque l'enfant vivait encore, nous lui avons parlé, et il ne nous a pas écoutés; comment oserons-nous lui dire: L'enfant est mort? Il s'affligera bien davantage.
18 Ar an seachtú lá, fuair an leanbh bás. Bhí eagla ar fheidhmeannaigh Dháiví a insint dó go raibh an leanbh marbh. “Fad a bhí an leanbh beo,” ar siad, “bhímis ag áiteamh leis, ach ní éistfeadh sé linn. Conas, más ea, a d'fhéadfaimis a rá leis go bhfuil an leanbh marbh? B'fhéidir go ndéanfadh sé díobháil éigin dó féin.”
18 Y al séptimo día murió el niño; pero sus siervos no osaban hacerle saber que el niño era muerto, diciendo entre sí: Cuando el niño aun vivía, le hablábamos, y no quería oir nuestra voz: ¿pues cuánto más mal le hará, si le dijéremos que el niño es muerto?
18 Am siebenten Tage aber starb das Kind. Und die Knechte Davids fürchteten sich ihm anzusagen, daß das Kind tot wäre; denn sie gedachten: Siehe, da das Kind noch lebendig war, redeten wir mit ihm, und er gehorchte unsrer Stimme nicht; wie viel mehr wird er sich wehe tun, so wir sagen: Das Kind ist tot.
19 But when David saw that his servants were talking together quietly, he was certain that the child was dead: and he said to his servants, Is the child dead? and they said, He is.
19 David aperçut que ses serviteurs parlaient tout bas entre eux, et il comprit que l'enfant était mort. Il dit à ses serviteurs: L'enfant est-il mort? Et ils répondirent: Il est mort.
19 Ach thug Dáiví faoi deara go raibh a fheidhmeannaigh ag cogarnaíl le chéile agus thuig sé go raibh an leanbh marbh. “An bhfuil an leanbh marbh?” arsa Dáiví leis na feidhmeannaigh. D'fhreagair siad: “Tá. Tá sé marbh.”
19 Mas David viendo á sus siervos hablar entre sí, entendió que el niño era muerto; por lo que dijo David á sus siervos: ¿Es muerto el niño? Y ellos respondieron: Muerto es.
19 Da aber David sah, daß seine Knechte leise redeten, und merkte, daß das Kind tot wäre, sprach er zu seinen Knechten: Ist das Kind tot? Sie sprachen: Ja.
20 Then David got up from the earth, and after washing and rubbing himself with oil and changing his clothing, he went into the house of the Lord and gave worship: then he went back to his house, and at his order they put food before him and he had a meal.
20 Alors David se leva de terre. Il se lava, s'oignit, et changea de vêtements; puis il alla dans la maison de l'Éternel, et se prosterna. De retour chez lui, il demanda qu'on lui servît à manger, et il mangea.
20 D'éirigh Dáiví ón urlár, nigh agus d'ungaigh é féin, agus chuir malairt éadaigh air féin. Ansin chuaigh sé isteach i dteach an Tiarna agus rinne adhradh. Ar fhilleadh chun a thí dó, d'iarr sé bia, leagadh os a chomhair é agus chaith sé é.
20 Entonces David se levantó de tierra, y lavóse y ungióse, y mudó sus ropas, y entró á la casa de Jehová, y adoró. Y después vino á su casa, y demandó, y pusiéronle pan, y comió.
20 Da stand David auf von der Erde und wusch sich und salbte sich und tat andere Kleider an und ging in das Haus des HERRN und betete an. Und da er wieder heimkam, hieß er ihm Brot auftragen und aß.
21 Then his servants said to him, Why have you been acting in this way? you were weeping and going without food while the child was still living; but when the child was dead, you got up and had a meal.
21 Ses serviteurs lui dirent: Que signifie ce que tu fais? Tandis que l'enfant vivait, tu jeûnais et tu pleurais; et maintenant que l'enfant est mort, tu te lèves et tu manges!
21 Dúirt a fheidhmeannaigh leis: “Cad ina thaobh go bhfuil seo á dhéanamh agat? Fad a mhair do leanbh, bhí tú ag troscadh agus ag caoineadh, ach nuair a fuair an leanbh bás, d'éirigh tú agus chaith tú bia.”
21 Y dijéronle sus siervos: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho? Por el niño, viviendo aún, ayunabas y llorabas; y él muerto, levantástete y comiste pan.
21 Da sprachen seine Knechte zu ihm: Was ist das für ein Ding, das du tust? Da das Kind lebte, fastetest du und weintest; aber nun es gestorben ist, stehst du auf und ißt?
22 And he said, While the child was still living I went without food and gave myself up to weeping: for I said, Who is able to say that the Lord will not have mercy on me and give the child life?
22 Il répondit: Lorsque l'enfant vivait encore, je jeûnais et je pleurais, car je disais: Qui sait si l'Éternel n'aura pas pitié de moi et si l'enfant ne vivra pas?
22 “Fad a mhair an leanbh,” d'fhreagair sé, “rinne mé troscadh agus caoineadh mar go raibh mé á rá liom féin: ‘Cá bhfios nach mbeadh trua ag an Tiarna dom agus go mairfeadh mo leanbh.’
22 Y él respondió: Viviendo aún el niño, yo ayunaba y lloraba, diciendo: ¿Quién sabe si Dios tendrá compasión de mí, por manera que viva el niño?
22 Er sprach: Um das Kind fastete ich und weinte, da es lebte; denn ich gedachte: Wer weiß, ob mir der HERR nicht gnädig wird, daß das Kind lebendig bleibe.
23 But now that the child is dead there is no reason for me to go without food; am I able to make him come back to life? I will go to him, but he will never come back to me.
23 Maintenant qu'il est mort, pourquoi jeûnerais-je? Puis-je le faire revenir? J'irai vers lui, mais il ne reviendra pas vers moi.
23 Ach anois, ó tá sé marbh, cén fáth a ndéanfainn troscadh? An féidir liom é a thabhairt ar ais arís? Rachaidh mise chuige, ach ní féidir dósan teacht ar ais chugamsa.”
23 Mas ahora que ya es muerto, ¿para qué tengo de ayunar? ¿podré yo hacerle volver? Yo voy á él, mas él no volverá á mí.
23 Nun es aber tot ist, was soll ich fasten? Kann ich es auch wiederum holen? Ich werde wohl zu ihm fahren; es kommt aber nicht zu mir.
24 And David gave comfort to his wife Bath-sheba, and he went in to her and had connection with her: and she had a son to whom she gave the name Solomon. And he was dear to the Lord.
24 David consola Bath Schéba, sa femme, et il alla auprès d'elle et coucha avec elle. Elle enfanta un fils qu'il appela Salomon, et qui fut aimé de l'Éternel.
24 Chrom Dáiví ar shólás a thabhairt dá bhean Baitseaba, agus chuaigh isteach chuici agus luigh léi. Ghabh sí gin, agus rug sí mac ar ar thug sí Solamh. Bhí grá ag an Tiarna dó,
24 Y consoló David á Bath-sheba su mujer, y entrando á ella, durmió con ella; y parió un hijo, y llamó su nombre Salomón, al cual amó Jehová:
24 Und da David sein Weib Bath-Seba getröstet hatte, ging er zu ihr hinein und schlief bei ihr. Und sie gebar ihm einen Sohn, den hieß er Salomo. Und der HERR liebte ihn.
25 And he sent word by Nathan the prophet, who gave him the name Jedidiah, by the word of the Lord.
25 Il le remit entre les mains de Nathan le prophète, et Nathan lui donna le nom de Jedidja, à cause de l'Éternel.
25 agus d'inis sé é sin trí bhéal Nátán fáidh. Thug sé dá bhrí sin Muirnín an Tiarna air de bharr an Tiarna. Gabháil Rabá
25 Que envió por mano de Nathán profeta, y llamó su nombre Jedidiah, á causa de Jehová.
25 Und er tat ihn unter die Hand Nathans, des Propheten; der hieß ihn Jedidja, um des HERRN willen.
26 Now Joab was fighting against Rabbah, in the land of the children of Ammon, and he took the water-town.
26 Joab, qui assiégeait Rabba des fils d'Ammon, s'empara de la ville royale,
26 Chuir Ióáb cath ar Rabá na nAmónach agus ghabh sé [daingean an uisce].
26 Y Joab peleaba contra Rabba de los hijos de Ammón, y tomó la ciudad real.
26 So stritt nun Joab wider Rabba der Kinder Ammon königliche Stadt
27 And Joab sent men to David, saying, I have made war against Rabbah and have taken the water-town.
27 et envoya des messagers à David pour lui dire: J'ai attaqué Rabba, et je me suis déjà emparé de la ville des eaux;
27 Ansin chuir Ióáb teachtairí go Dáiví agus dúirt: “Rinne mé ruathar ar Rabá agus ghabh mé daingean an uisce.
27 Entonces envió Joab mensajeros á David, diciendo: Yo he peleado contra Rabba, y he tomado la ciudad de las aguas.
27 und sandte Boten zu David und ließ ihm sagen: Ich habe gestritten wider Rabba und habe auch gewonnen die Wasserstadt.
28 So now, get the rest of the people together, and put them in position against the town and take it, for if I take it, it will be named after my name.
28 rassemble maintenant le reste du peuple, campe contre la ville, et prends-la, de peur que je ne la prenne moi-même et que la gloire ne m'en soit attribuée.
28 Cruinnigh an chuid eile den arm, más ea, suigh do champa i gcoinne na cathrach, agus tóg í d'fhonn nach ngabhfainnse an chathair agus m'ainm féin a thabhairt uirthi.”
28 Junta pues ahora el pueblo que queda, y asienta campo contra la ciudad, y tómala; porque tomando yo la ciudad, no se llame de mi nombre.
