1 Now in the spring, at the time when kings go out to war, David sent Joab and his servants and all Israel with him; and they made waste the land of the children of Ammon, and took up their position before Rabbah, shutting it in. But David was still at Jerusalem.
1 L'année suivante, au temps où les rois se mettaient en campagne, David envoya Joab, avec ses serviteurs et tout Israël, pour détruire les fils d'Ammon et pour assiéger Rabba. Mais David resta à Jérusalem.

1 Y Acontecio á la vuelta de un año, en el tiempo que salen los reyes á la guerra, que David envió á Joab, y á sus siervos con él, y á todo Israel; y destruyeron á los Ammonitas, y pusieron cerco á Rabba: mas David se quedó en Jerusalem.
1 Und da das Jahr um kam, zur Zeit, wann die Könige pflegen auszuziehen, sandte David Joab und seine Knechte mit ihm das ganze Israel, daß sie die Kinder Ammon verderbten und Rabba belagerten. David aber blieb zu Jerusalem.
2 Now one evening, David got up from his bed, and while he was walking on the roof of the king's house, he saw from there a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.
2 Un soir, David se leva de sa couche; et, comme il se promenait sur le toit de la maison royale, il aperçut de là une femme qui se baignait, et qui était très belle de figure.
2 Ardtráthnóna agus Dáiví ag spaisteoireacht ar dhíon an pháláis tar éis éirí óna leaba dó, tharla go bhfaca sé ón díon bean a bhí á folcadh féin. Bhí an bhean an-dathúil.
2 Y acaeció que levantándose David de su cama á la hora de la tarde, paseábase por el terrado de la casa real, cuando vió desde el terrado una mujer que se estaba lavando, la cual era muy hermosa.
2 Und es begab sich, daß David um den Abend aufstand von seinem Lager und ging auf dem Dach des Königshauses und sah vom Dach ein Weib sich waschen; und das Weib war sehr schöner Gestalt.
3 And David sent to get knowledge who the woman was. And one said, Is this not Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam and wife of Uriah the Hittite?
3 David fit demander qui était cette femme, et on lui dit: N'est-ce pas Bath Schéba, fille d'Éliam, femme d'Urie, le Héthien?
3 Chuir Dáiví tuairisc na mná seo agus dúradh leis: “Ar ndóigh sin í Baitseaba, iníon Eilíám, bean Úiríá an Hiteach.”
3 Y envió David á preguntar por aquella mujer, y dijéronle: Aquella es Bath-sheba hija de Eliam, mujer de Uría Hetheo.
3 Und David sandte hin und ließ nach dem Weibe fragen, und man sagte: Ist das nicht Bath-Seba, die Tochter Eliams, das Weib des Urias, des Hethiters?
4 And David sent and took her; and she came to him, and he took her to his bed: (for she had been made clean;) then she went back to her house.
4 Et David envoya des gens pour la chercher. Elle vint vers lui, et il coucha avec elle. Après s'être purifiée de sa souillure, elle retourna dans sa maison.
4 Ansin sheol Dáiví teachtairí amach lena tabhairt chuige. Tháinig sí chuige agus luigh sé léi; bhí a fuil mhíosta tagtha agus í direach tar éis í féin a ghlanadh. D'imigh sí abhaile arís ansin.
4 Y envió David mensajeros, y tomóla: y así que hubo entrado á él, él durmió con ella. Purificóse luego ella de su inmundicia, y se volvió á su casa.
4 Und David sandte Boten hin und ließ sie holen. Und da sie zu ihm hineinkam, schlief er bei ihr. Sie aber reinigte sich von ihrer Unreinigkeit und kehrte wieder zu ihrem Hause.
5 And the woman became with child; and she sent word to David that she was with child.
5 Cette femme devint enceinte, et elle fit dire à David: Je suis enceinte.
5 Ghabh an bhean gin agus chuir sí scéala chuig Dáiví: “Tá mé ag iompar clainne.”
5 Y concibió la mujer, y enviólo á hacer saber á David, diciendo: Yo estoy embarazada.
5 Und das Weib ward schwanger und sandte hin und ließ David verkündigen und sagen: Ich bin schwanger geworden.
6 And David sent to Joab saying, Send Uriah the Hittite to me. And Joab sent Uriah to David.
6 Alors David expédia cet ordre à Joab: Envoie-moi Urie, le Héthien. Et Joab envoya Urie à David.
6 Ansin chuir Dáiví teachtaireacht ag triall ar Ióáb. “Seol Úiríá an Hiteach chugam.” Sheol Ióáb Úiríá chuig Dáiví láithreach.
6 Entonces David envió á decir á Joab: Envíame á Uría Hetheo. Y enviólo Joab á David.
6 David aber sandte zu Joab: Sende zu mir Uria, den Hethiter. Und Joab sandte Uria zu David.
7 And when Uriah came to him, David put questions to him about how Joab and the people were, and how the war was going.
7 Urie se rendit auprès de David, qui l'interrogea sur l'état de Joab, sur l'état du peuple, et sur l'état de la guerre.
7 Nuair a tháinig Úiríá ina láthair chuir Dáiví tuairisc Ióáb agus an airm agus chúrsaí an chogaidh air.
7 Y como Uría vino á él, preguntóle David por la salud de Joab, y por la salud del pueblo, y asimismo de la guerra.
7 Und da Uria zu ihm kam, fragte David, ob es mit Joab und mit dem Volk und mit dem Streit wohl stünde?
8 And David said to Uriah, Go down to your house and let your feet be washed. And Uriah went away from the king's house, and an offering from the king was sent after him.
8 Puis David dit à Urie: Descends dans ta maison, et lave tes pieds. Urie sortit de la maison royale, et il fut suivi d'un présent du roi.
8 Ansin dúirt Dáiví le hÚiriá: “Gabh síos chun do thí agus bíodh spraoi agat.” D'fhág Úiríá an pálás agus cuireadh bronntanas ón rí ina dhiaidh.
8 Después dijo David á Uría: Desciende á tu casa, y lava tus pies. Y saliendo Uría de casa del rey, vino tras de él comida real.
8 Und David sprach zu Uria: Gehe hinab in dein Haus und wasche deine Füße. Und da Uria zu des Königs Haus hinausging, folgte ihm nach des Königs Geschenk.
9 But Uriah took his rest at the door of the king's house, with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house.
9 Mais Urie se coucha à la porte de la maison royale, avec tous les serviteurs de son maître, et il ne descendit point dans sa maison.
9 Ach chodail Úiríá lasmuigh de dhoras an pháláis le garda cosanta a mháistir; ní dheachaigh sé síos chun a thí féin.
9 Mas Uría durmió á la puerta de la casa del rey con todos los siervos de su señor, y no descendió á su casa.
9 Aber Uria legte sich schlafen vor der Tür des Königshauses, da alle Knechte seines Herrn lagen, und ging nicht hinab in sein Haus.
10 And when word was given to David that Uriah had not gone down to his house, David said to Uriah, Have you not come from a journey? why did you not go down to your house?
10 On en informa David, et on lui dit: Urie n'est pas descendu dans sa maison. Et David dit à Urie: N'arrives-tu pas de voyage? Pourquoi n'es-tu pas descendu dans ta maison?
10 Tugadh an scéala seo chuig Dáiví: “Ní dheachaigh Úiríá síos chun a thí féin,” a dúirt siad leis. Chuir Dáiví ceist ar Úiríá: “Nach bhfuil aistear fada curtha díot agat? Cén fáth nach ndeachaigh tú síos chun do thí?”
10 E hicieron saber esto á David, diciendo: Uría no ha descendido á su casa. Y dijo David á Uría: ¿No has venido de camino? ¿por qué pues no descendiste á tu casa?
10 Da man aber David ansagte: Uria ist nicht hinab in sein Haus gegangen, sprach David zu ihm: Bist du nicht über Feld hergekommen? Warum bist du nicht hinab in dein Haus gegangen?
11 And Uriah said to David, Israel and Judah with the ark are living in tents, and my lord Joab and the other servants of my lord are sleeping in the open field; and am I to go to my house and take food and drink, and go to bed with my wife? By the living Lord, and by the life of your soul, I will not do such a thing.
11 Urie répondit à David: L'arche et Israël et Juda habitent sous des tentes, mon seigneur Joab et les serviteurs de mon seigneur campent en rase campagne, et moi j'entrerais dans ma maison pour manger et boire et pour coucher avec ma femme! Aussi vrai que tu es vivant et que ton âme est vivante, je ne ferai point cela.
11 Dúirt Úiríá le Dáiví: “Nach bhfuil an áirc agus Iosrael agus Iúdá ina gcónaí i mbothanna? Agus tá mo thiarna Ióáb agus seirbhísigh mo thiarna ag cur fúthu sa mhachaire; an bhfuilimse le dul go dtí mo theach, más ea, le bia agus deoch a chaitheamh agus le luí le mo bhean? Dar do bheo féin agus dar d'anam beo, ní dhéanfaidh mé a leithéid.”
11 Y Uría respondió á David: El arca, é Israel y Judá, están debajo de tiendas; y mi señor Joab, y los siervos de mi señor sobre la haz del campo: ¿y había yo de entrar en mi casa para comer y beber, y á dormir con mi mujer? Por vida tuya, y por vida de tu alma, que yo no haré tal cosa.
11 Uria aber sprach zu David: Die Lade und Israel und Juda bleiben in Zelten, und Joab, mein Herr, und meines Herrn Knechte liegen im Felde, und ich sollte in mein Haus gehen, daß ich äße und tränke und bei meinem Weibe läge? So wahr du lebst und deine Seele lebt, ich tue solches nicht.
12 And David said to Uriah, Be here today, and after that I will let you go. So Uriah was in Jerusalem that day and the day after.
12 David dit à Urie: Reste ici encore aujourd'hui, et demain je te renverrai. Et Urie resta à Jérusalem ce jour-là et le lendemain.
12 Dúirt Dáiví ansin le hÚiríá: “Fan anseo inniu chomh maith, agus amárach ligfidh mé chun siúil thú.” D'fhan Úiríá in Iarúsailéim dá bhrí sin, an lá sin, agus lá arna mhárach.
12 Y David dijo á Uría: Estáte aquí aún hoy, y mañana te despacharé. Y quedóse Uría en Jerusalem aquel día y el siguiente.
12 David sprach zu Uria: So bleibe auch heute hier; morgen will ich dich lassen gehen. So blieb Uria zu Jerusalem des Tages und des andern dazu.
13 And when David sent for him, he took meat and drink with him, and David made him the worse for drink: and when evening came, he went to rest on his bed with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house.
13 David l'invita à manger et à boire en sa présence, et il l'enivra; et le soir, Urie sortit pour se mettre sur sa couche, avec les serviteurs de son maître, mais il ne descendit point dans sa maison.
13 Lá arna mhárach thug Dáiví cuireadh do bheith ag ithe agus ag ól ina chuideachta agus chuir sé ar meisce é. Nuair a tháinig an tráthnóna chuaigh Úiríá amach agus luigh sé ar a thocht in éineacht le garda cosanta a mháistir; ach ní dheachaigh sé síos chun a thí féin.
13 Y David lo convidó, é hízole comer y beber delante de sí, hasta embriagarlo. Y él salió á la tarde á dormir en su cama con los siervos de su señor; mas no descendió á su casa.
13 Und David lud ihn, daß er vor ihm aß und trank, und machte ihn trunken. Aber des Abends ging er aus, daß er sich schlafen legte auf sein Lager mit seines Herrn Knechten, und ging nicht hinab in sein Haus.
14 Now in the morning, David gave Uriah a letter to take to Joab.
14 Le lendemain matin, David écrivit une lettre à Joab, et l'envoya par la main d'Urie.
14 An mhaidin ina dhiaidh sin scríobh Dáiví litir chuig Ióáb agus sheol sé le hÚiríá í. Is é a scríobh sa litir:
14 Venida la mañana, escribió David á Joab una carta, la cual envió por mano de Uría.
14 Des Morgens schrieb David einen Brief an Joab und sandte ihn durch Uria.
15 And in the letter he said, Take care to put Uriah in the very front of the line, where the fighting is most violent, and go back from him, so that he may be overcome and put to death.
15 Il écrivit dans cette lettre: Placez Urie au plus fort du combat, et retirez-vous de lui, afin qu'il soit frappé et qu'il meure.
15 “Cuir Úiríá i bhfíorthosach an chruachatha, agus ansin tarraingigí féin siar ar a chúl, ionas go ndéanfar é a threascairt agus a mharú.”
15 Y escribió en la carta, diciendo: Poned á Uría delante de la fuerza de la batalla, y desamparadle, para que sea herido y muera.
15 Er schrieb aber also in den Brief: Stellt Uria an den Streit, da er am härtesten ist, und wendet euch hinter ihm ab, daß er erschlagen werde und sterbe.
16 So while Joab was watching the town, he put Uriah in the place where it was clear to him the best fighters were.
16 Joab, en assiégeant la ville, plaça Urie à l'endroit qu'il savait défendu par de vaillants soldats.
16 Bhí an chathair faoi léigear ag Ióáb, agus chuir sé Úiríá in ionad arbh eol do na fir throda a bheith go fíochmhar.
16 Así fué que cuando Joab cercó la ciudad, puso á Uría en el lugar donde sabía que estaban los hombres más valientes.
16 Als nun Joab um die Stadt lag, stellte er Uria an den Ort, wo er wußte, daß streitbare Männer waren.
17 And the men of the town went out and had a fight with Joab: and a number of David's men came to their death in the fight, and with them Uriah the Hittite.
17 Les hommes de la ville firent une sortie et se battirent contre Joab; plusieurs tombèrent parmi le peuple, parmi les serviteurs de David, et Urie, le Héthien, fut aussi tué.
17 Thug muintir na cathrach rúid amach agus rinne ionsaí ar Ióáb; maraíodh cuid den arm agus cuid de sheirbhísigh Dháiví ina measc; agus maraíodh Úiríá an Hiteach i gcuideachta na cuideachta.
17 Y saliendo luego los de la ciudad, pelearon con Joab, y cayeron algunos del pueblo de los siervos de David; y murió también Uría Hetheo.
17 Und da die Männer der Stadt herausfielen und stritten wider Joab, fielen etliche des Volks von den Knechten Davids, und Uria, der Hethiter, starb auch.
18 Then Joab sent David news of everything which had taken place in the war:
18 Joab envoya un messager pour faire rapport à David de tout ce qui s'était passé dans le combat.
18 Chuir Ióáb tuairisc iomlán ar an gcath go dtí Dáiví.
18 Entonces envió Joab, é hizo saber á David todos los negocios de la guerra.
18 Da sandte Joab hin und ließ David ansagen allen Handel des Streits
19 And he gave orders to the man who took the news, saying, After you have given the king all the news about the war,
19 Il donna cet ordre au messager: Quand tu auras achevé de raconter au roi tous les détails du combat,
19 Thug sé an treoir seo don teachtaire: “Nuair a bheidh scéal an chatha ar fad inste agat don rí,
19 Y mandó al mensajero, diciendo: Cuando acabares de contar al rey todos los negocios de la guerra,
19 und gebot dem Boten und sprach: Wenn du allen Handel des Streits hast ausgeredet mit dem König
20 If the king is angry and says, Why did you go so near the town for the fight? was it not certain that their archers would be on the wall?
20 peut-être se mettra-t-il en fureur et te dira-t-il: Pourquoi vous êtes vous approchés de la ville pour combattre? Ne savez-vous pas qu'on lance des traits du haut de la muraille?
20 má thagann fearg ar an rí, agus go ndeir sé leat: ‘Cén fáth a ndeachaigh sibh chomh cóngarach don chathair ag cur an chatha? Nach raibh a fhios agaibh go gcaithfidís libh ó na ballaí?
20 Si el rey comenzare á enojarse, y te dijere: ¿Por qué os acercasteis á la ciudad peleando? ¿no sabíais lo que suelen arrojar del muro?
20 und siehst, daß der König sich erzürnt und zu dir spricht: Warum habt ihr euch so nahe zur Stadt gemacht mit dem Streit? Wißt ihr nicht, wie man pflegt von der Mauer zu schießen?
21 Who put Abimelech, the son of Jerubbaal, to death? did not a woman send a great stone down on him from the wall, putting him to death at Thebez? why did you go so near the wall? Then say to him, Your servant Uriah the Hittite is among the dead.
21 Qui a tué Abimélec, fils de Jerubbéscheth? n'est-ce pas une femme qui lança sur lui du haut de la muraille un morceau de meule de moulin, et n'en est-il pas mort à Thébets? Pourquoi vous êtes-vous approchés de la muraille? Alors tu diras: Ton serviteur Urie, le Héthien, est mort aussi.
21 Cé mharaigh Aibímeilic mac Iarubál? Nach ann a chaith bean bró mhuilinn anuas air ó na ballaí agus a mharaigh é i dTéibéiz? Cén fáth a ndeachaigh sibh chomh cóngarach do na ballaí?’ abairse ansin: ‘Tá do shearbhónta Úiríá an Hiteach marbh chomh maith.’ ”
21 ¿Quién hirió á Abimelech hjo de Jerobaal? ¿no echó una mujer del muro un pedazo de una rueda de molino, y murió en Thebes? ¿por qué os llegasteis al muro?: entonces tú le dirás: También tu siervo Uría Hetheo es muerto.
21 Wer schlug Abimelech, den Sohn Jerubbeseths? Warf nicht ein Weib einen Mühlstein auf ihn von der Mauer, daß er starb zu Thebez? Warum habt ihr euch so nahe zur Mauer gemacht? so sollst du sagen: Dein Knecht Uria, der Hethiter, ist auch tot.
22 So the man went, and came to David, and gave him all the news which Joab had sent him to give; then David was angry with Joab and said, Why did you go so near the town for the fight? was it not certain that their archers would be on the wall? who put Abimelech, the son of Jerubbaal, to death? did not a woman send a great stone down on him from the wall, putting him to death at Thebez? why did you go so near the wall?
22 Le messager partit: et, à son arrivée, il fit rapport à David de tout ce que Joab lui avait ordonné.
22 D'imigh an teachtaire leis, agus ar theacht dó, d'inis sé do Dháiví gach a raibh ordaithe ag Ióáb dó a rá.
22 Y fué el mensajero, y llegando, contó á David todas las cosas á que Joab le había enviado.
22 Der Bote ging hin und kam und sagte an David alles, darum ihn Joab gesandt hatte.
23 And the man said to David, Truly the men got the better of us, and came out against us into the open country, but we sent them back to the very doors of the town.
23 Le messager dit à David: Ces gens ont eu sur nous l'avantage; ils avaient fait une sortie contre nous dans les champs, et nous les avons repoussés jusqu'à l'entrée de la porte;
23 Dúirt an teachtaire le Dáiví: “Fuair a gcuid fear buntáiste orainn agus thángadar amach inár gcoinne ar an bpáirc, ach thiomáineamar ar gcúl iad go dtí béal an gheata.
23 Y dijo el mensajero á David: Prevalecieron contra nosotros los hombres, que salieron á nosotros al campo, bien que nosotros les hicimos retroceder hasta la entrada de la puerta;
23 Und der Bote sprach zu David: Die Männer nahmen überhand wider uns und fielen zu uns heraus aufs Feld; wir aber waren an ihnen bis vor die Tür des Tors;
24 And the archers sent their arrows at your servants from the wall, and some of the king's servants are dead, and among them is your servant Uriah the Hittite.
24 les archers ont tiré du haut de la muraille sur tes serviteurs, et plusieurs des serviteurs du roi ont été tués, et ton serviteur Urie, le Héthien, est mort aussi.
24 Ach ansin chrom na saighdiúirí ar chaitheamh le do sheirbhísigh ó na ballaí; cailleadh cuid de sheirbhísigh an rí, agus tá do shearbhónta Úiríá an Hiteach marbh freisin.”
24 Pero los flecheros tiraron contra tus siervos desde el muro, y murieron algunos de los siervos del rey; y murió también tu siervo Uría Hetheo.
24 und die Schützen schossen von der Mauer auf deine Knechte und töteten etliche von des Königs Knechten; dazu ist Uria, der Hethiter, auch tot.
25 Then David said to the man, Go and say to Joab, Do not let this be a grief to you; for one man may come to his death by the sword like another: put up an even stronger fight against the town, and take it: and do you put heart into him.
25 David dit au messager: Voici ce que tu diras à Joab: Ne sois point peiné de cette affaire, car l'épée dévore tantôt l'un, tantôt l'autre; attaque vigoureusement la ville, et renverse-la. Et toi, encourage-le!
25 Dúirt Dáiví leis an teachtaire: “Abair é seo le Ióáb: ‘Ná cuireadh an gnó seo buairt ar do chroí, óir slogann an claíomh fear uair, agus fear eile uair eile. Tabhair ruathar níos treise faoin gcathair agus scrios í.’ Tabhair misneach mar sin dó.”
25 Y David dijo al mensajero: Dirás así á Joab: No tengas pesar de esto, que de igual y semejante manera suele consumir la espada: esfuerza la batalla contra la ciudad, hasta que la rindas. Y tú aliéntale.
25 David sprach zum Boten: So sollst du zu Joab sagen: Laß dir das nicht übel gefallen; denn das Schwert frißt jetzt diesen, jetzt jenen. Fahre fort mit dem Streit wider die Stadt, daß du sie zerbrechest, und seid getrost.
26 And when the wife of Uriah had news that her husband was dead, she gave herself up to weeping for him.
26 La femme d'Urie apprit que son mari était mort, et elle pleura son mari.
26 Nuair a chuala bean Úiríá go raibh Úiríá a fear tar éis bháis, chaoin sí a fear.
26 Y oyendo la mujer de Uría que su marido Uría era muerto, hizo duelo por su marido.
26 Und da Urias Weib hörte, daß ihr Mann, Uria, tot war, trug sie Leid um ihren Eheherrn.
27 And when the days of weeping were past, David sent for her, and took her into his house, and she became his wife and gave him a son. But the Lord was not pleased with the thing David had done.
27 Quand le deuil fut passé, David l'envoya chercher et la recueillit dans sa maison. Elle devint sa femme, et lui enfanta un fils. Ce que David avait fait déplut à l'Éternel.
