1 Now at that time the Philistines came together to make war against Israel, and the men of Israel went out to war against the Philistines and took up their position at the side of Eben-ezer: and the Philistines put their forces in position in Aphek.
1 La parole de Samuel s'adressait à tout Israël. Israël sortit à la rencontre des Philistins, pour combattre. Ils campèrent près d'Ében Ézer, et les Philistins étaient campés à Aphek.
1 Agus ghabh briathar Shamúéil amach go hIosrael go léir. [Ach bhí Éilí an- aosta, agus lean a chlann mhac orthu lena gcoirpeacht in aghaidh an Tiarna.] An Áirc ag na Filistínigh [Tharla gur thionóil na Filistínigh an uair sin chun troid in aghaidh Iosrael] agus chuaigh Iosrael amach chun catha in aghaidh na bhFilistíneach agus shuíodar a gcampa láimh le hEibin Eizir, agus a gcampa ag na Filistínigh ag Afaec.
1 Y Samuel habló á todo Israel. Por aquel tiempo salió Israel á encontrar en batalla á los Filisteos, y asentó campo junto á Eben-ezer, y los Filisteos asentaron el suyo en Aphec.
1 Israel aber zog aus, den Philistern entgegen, in den Streit, und lagerten sich bei Eben-Ezer. Die Philister aber hatten sich gelagert zu Aphek
2 And the Philistines put their forces in order against Israel, and the fighting was hard, and Israel was overcome by the Philistines, who put to the sword about four thousand of their army in the field.
2 Les Philistins se rangèrent en bataille contre Israël, et le combat s'engagea. Israël fut battu par les Philistins, qui tuèrent sur le champ de bataille environ quatre mille hommes.
2 Chóirigh na Filistínigh iad féin chun catha in aghaidh Iosrael; troideadh go dian, agus bhris na Filistínigh ar Iosrael agus maraíodh timpeall ceithre mhíle dá n‑arm ar pháirc an áir.
2 Y los Filisteos presentaron la batalla á Israel; y trabándose el combate, Israel fué vencido delante de los Filisteos, los cuales hirieron en la batalla por el campo como cuatro mil hombres.
2 und stellten sich gegen Israel. Und der Streit teilte sich weit, und Israel ward vor den Philistern geschlagen; und sie schlugen in der Ordnung im Felde bei viertausend Mann.
3 And when the people came back to their tents, the responsible men of Israel said, Why has the Lord let the Philistines overcome us today? Let us get the ark of the Lord's agreement here from Shiloh, so that it may be with us and give us salvation from the hands of those who are against us.
3 Le peuple rentra au camp, et les anciens d'Israël dirent: Pourquoi l'Éternel nous a-t-il laissé battre aujourd'hui par les Philistins? Allons chercher à Silo l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel; qu'elle vienne au milieu de nous, et qu'elle nous délivre de la main de nos ennemis.
3 Nuair a d'fhill na fir ar an gcampa, dúirt seanóirí Iosrael: “Cad chuige ar chuir an Tiarna an teitheadh orainn inniu roimh na Filistínigh? Tugaimis áirc chonradh an Tiarna linn ó Shileo d'fhonn go dtiocfadh sé inar measc agus sinn a fhuascailt ó chumhacht ár naimhde.”
3 Y vuelto que hubo el pueblo al campamento, los ancianos de Israel dijeron: ¿Por qué nos ha herido hoy Jehová delante de los Filisteos? Traigamos á nosotros de Silo el arca del pacto de Jehová, para que viniendo entre nosotros nos salve de la mano de nuestros enemigos.
3 Und da das Volk ins Lager kam, sprachen die Ältesten Israels: Warum hat uns der HERR heute schlagen lassen vor den Philistern? Laßt uns zu uns nehmen die Lade des Bundes des HERRN von Silo und laßt sie unter uns kommen, daß sie uns helfe von der Hand unsrer Feinde.
4 So the people sent to Shiloh and got the ark of the agreement of the Lord of armies whose resting-place is between the winged ones; and Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were there with the ark of God's agreement.
4 Le peuple envoya à Silo, d'où l'on apporta l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel des armées qui siège entre les chérubins. Les deux fils d'Éli, Hophni et Phinées, étaient là, avec l'arche de l'alliance de Dieu.
4 Uime sin chuir na daoine fios go Sileo agus thugadar leo ón áit sin áirc chonradh Thiarna na Slua, an té atá suite ar na ceiribíní; agus tháinig beirt mhac Éilí, Hofnaí agus Píneachás in éineacht le háirc chonradh Dé.
4 Y envió el pueblo á Silo, y trajeron de allá el arca del pacto de Jehová de los ejércitos, que estaba asentado entre los querubines; y los dos hijos de Eli, Ophni y Phinees, estaban allí con el arca del pacto de Dios.
4 Und das Volk sandte gen Silo und ließ von da holen die Lade des Bundes des HERRN Zebaoth, der über den Cherubim sitzt. Und es waren da die zwei Söhne Elis mit der Lade des Bundes Gottes, Hophni und Pinehas.
5 And when the ark of the Lord's agreement came into the tent-circle, all Israel gave a great cry, so that the earth was sounding with it.
5 Lorsque l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel entra dans le camp, tout Israël poussa de grands cris de joie, et la terre en fut ébranlée.
5 Nuair a tháinig áirc chonradh an Tiarna isteach sa champa, lig Iosrael go léir gáir mhór astu, a bhain macalla as an talamh.
5 Y aconteció que, como el arca del pacto de Jehová vino al campo, todo Israel dió grita con tan grande júbilo, que la tierra tembló.
5 Und da die Lade des Bundes des HERRN ins Lager kam, jauchzte das ganze Israel mit großem Jauchzen, daß die Erde erschallte.
6 And the Philistines, hearing the noise of their cry, said, What is this great cry among the tents of the Hebrews? Then it became clear to them that the ark of the Lord had come to the tent-circle.
6 Le retentissement de ces cris fut entendu des Philistins, et ils dirent: Que signifient ces grands cris qui retentissent dans le camp des Hébreux? Et ils apprirent que l'arche de l'Éternel était arrivée au camp.
6 Nuair a chuala na Filistínigh an gháir agus an gheoin, dúradar: “Cad is cúis leis an ngáir mhór seo i gcampa na nEabhrach?” Nuair a fuair siad amach gurbh amhlaidh a bhí áirc an Tiarna tagtha go dtí an campa,
6 Y cuando los Filisteos oyeron la voz de júbilo, dijeron: ¿Qué voz de gran júbilo es esta en el campo de los Hebreos? Y supieron que el arca de Jehová había venido al campo.
6 Da aber die Philister hörten das Geschrei solches Jauchzens, sprachen sie: Was ist das Geschrei solches großen Jauchzens in der Hebräer Lager? Und da sie erfuhren, daß die Lade des HERRN ins Lager gekommen wäre,
7 And the Philistines, full of fear, said, God has come into their tents. And they said, Trouble is ours! for never before has such a thing been seen.
7 Les Philistins eurent peur, parce qu'ils crurent que Dieu était venu dans le camp. Malheur à nous! dirent-ils, car il n'en a pas été ainsi jusqu'à présent.
7 bhuail eagla na Filistínigh agus dúirt siad: “Tá dia tagtha isteach sa champa. Is mairg dúinn!” ar siad. “Níor tharla a leithéid cheana.
7 Y los Filisteos tuvieron miedo, porque decían: Ha venido Dios al campo. Y dijeron: ¡Ay de nosotros! pues antes de ahora no fué así.
7 fürchteten sie sich und sprachen: Gott ist ins Lager gekommen; und sprachen weiter: Wehe uns! denn es ist zuvor nicht also gestanden.
8 Trouble is ours! Who will give us salvation from the hands of these great gods? These are the gods who sent all sorts of blows on the Egyptians in the waste land.
8 Malheur à nous! Qui nous délivrera de la main de ces dieux puissants? Ce sont ces dieux qui ont frappé les Égyptiens de toutes sortes de plaies dans le désert.
8 Is mairg dúinn! Cé a shaorfaidh sinn ó láimh an dé chumhachtaigh seo? Eisean an dia a bhuail na hÉigiptigh le gach sórt plá san fhásach!
8 ¡Ay de nosotros! ¿Quién nos librará de las manos de estos dioses fuertes? Estos son los dioses que hirieron á Egipto con toda plaga en el desierto.
8 Wehe uns! Wer will uns erretten von der Hand dieser mächtigen Götter, die Ägypten schlugen mit allerlei Plage in der Wüste.
9 Be strong, O Philistines, be men! Do not be servants to the Hebrews as they have been to you: go forward to the fight without fear.
9 Fortifiez-vous et soyez des hommes, Philistins, de peur que vous ne soyez asservis aux Hébreux comme ils vous ont été asservis; soyez des hommes et combattez!
9 Ach bíodh misneach agaibh, a Fhilistíneacha, agus bígí fearúil, ar eagla go mbeadh sibh in bhur ndaoir ag na hEabhraigh, faoi mar a bhí siadsan agaibhse! Bíodh sponc ionaibh agus troidigí.”
9 Esforzaos, oh Filisteos, y sed hombres, porque no sirváis á los Hebreos, como ellos os han servido á vosotros: sed hombres, y pelead.
9 So seid nun getrost ihr Männer, ihr Philister, daß ihr nicht dienen müßt den Hebräern, wie sie euch gedient haben! Seid Männer und streitet!
10 So the Philistines went to the fight, and Israel was overcome, and every man went in flight to his tent: and great was the destruction, for thirty thousand footmen of Israel were put to the sword.
10 Les Philistins livrèrent bataille, et Israël fut battu. Chacun s'enfuit dans sa tente. La défaite fut très grande, et il tomba d'Israël trente mille hommes de pied.
10 Throid na Filistínigh dá réir sin, agus cloíodh Iosrael agus theith gach fear acu chuig a bhoth féin. Rinneadh ár agus eirleach orthu agus thit tríocha míle troitheach de na hIosraelaigh.
10 Pelearon pues los Filisteos, é Israel fué vencido, y huyeron cada cual á sus tiendas; y fué hecha muy grande mortandad, pues cayeron de Israel treinta mil hombres de á pie.
10 Da stritten die Philister, und Israel ward geschlagen, und ein jeglicher floh in seine Hütte; und es war eine sehr große Schlacht, daß aus Israel fielen dreißigtausend Mann Fußvolk.
11 And the ark of God was taken; and Hophni and Phinehas, the sons of Eli, were put to the sword.
11 L'arche de Dieu fut prise, et les deux fils d'Éli, Hophni et Phinées, moururent.
11 Gabhadh áirc Dé freisin agus maraíodh Hofnaí agus Píneachás.
11 Y el arca de Dios fué tomada, y muertos los dos hijos de Eli, Ophni y Phinees.
11 Und die Lade Gottes ward genommen, und die zwei Söhne Elis, Hophni und Pinehas, starben.
12 And a man of Benjamin went running from the fight and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothing out of order and earth on his head.
12 Un homme de Benjamin accourut du champ de bataille et vint à Silo le même jour, les vêtements déchirés et la tête couverte de terre.
12 Theith Biniáimineach ón láthair chatha, agus shroich Sileo an lá céanna, agus a chuid éadaigh stróicthe agus luaithreach ar a cheann.
12 Y corriendo de la batalla un hombre de Benjamín, vino aquel día á Silo, rotos sus vestidos y tierra sobre su cabeza:
12 Da lief einer von Benjamin aus dem Heer und kam gen Silo desselben Tages und hatte seine Kleider zerrissen und hatte Erde auf sein Haupt gestreut.
13 And when he came, Eli was seated by the wayside watching: and in his heart was fear for the ark of God. And when the man came into the town and gave the news, there was a great outcry.
13 Lorsqu'il arriva, Éli était dans l'attente, assis sur un siège près du chemin, car son coeur était inquiet pour l'arche de Dieu. A son entrée dans la ville, cet homme donna la nouvelle, et toute la ville poussa des cris.
13 Nuair a tháinig sé, bhí Éilí ina shuí ina chathaoir láimh leis an ngeata ag faire an bhóthair mar bhí sé ar ballchrith le himní faoi áirc Dé. Nuair a tháinig an fear seo chun na cathrach leis an scéala, tógadh liú ar fud na cathrach.
13 Y cuando llegó, he aquí Eli que estaba sentado en una silla atalayando junto al camino; porque su corazón estaba temblando por causa del arca de Dios. Llegado pues aquel hombre á la ciudad, y dadas las nuevas, toda la ciudad gritó.
13 Und siehe, als er hineinkam, saß Eli auf dem Stuhl, daß er den Weg sähe; denn sein Herz war zaghaft über die Lade Gottes. Und da der Mann in die Stadt kam, sagte er's an, und die ganze Stadt schrie.
14 And Eli, hearing the noise and the cries, said, What is the reason of this outcry? And the man came quickly and gave the news to Eli.
14 Éli, entendant ces cris, dit: Que signifie ce tumulte? Et aussitôt l'homme vint apporter la nouvelle à Éli.
14 Chuala Éilí an gheoin agus d'fhiafraigh sé: “Cad a chiallaíonn an liúireach seo go léir?” Bhrostaigh an fear isteach agus thug sé an scéala d'Éilí.
14 Y como Eli oyó el estruendo de la gritería, dijo: ¿Qué estruendo de alboroto es éste? Y aquel hombre vino apriesa, y dió las nuevas á Eli.
14 Und da Eli das laute Schreien hörte, fragte er: Was ist das für ein lautes Getümmel? Da kam der Mann eilend und sagte es Eli an.
15 Now Eli was ninety-eight years old, and his eyes were fixed so that he was not able to see.
15 Or Éli était âgé de quatre-vingt-dix-huit ans, il avait les yeux fixes et ne pouvait plus voir.
15 Bhí Éilí ocht mbliana nóchad; bhí a shúile calctha agus é gan radharc.
15 Era ya Eli de edad de noventa y ocho años, y sus ojos se habían entenebrecido, de modo que no podía ver.
15 Eli aber war achtundneunzig Jahre alt, und seine Augen waren dunkel, daß er nicht sehen konnte.
16 And the man said to Eli, I have come from the army and have come in flight today from the fight. And he said, How did it go, my son?
16 L'homme dit à Éli: J'arrive du champ de bataille, et c'est du champ de bataille que je me suis enfui aujourd'hui. Éli dit: Que s'est-il passé, mon fils?
16 Dúirt an fear le hÉilí: “Tháinig mé ón gcath; theith mé ón gcath inniu.” “Cad a tharla, a mhic?” arsa Éilí.
16 Dijo pues aquel hombre á Eli: Yo vengo de la batalla, yo he escapado hoy del combate. Y él dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido, hijo mío?
16 Der Mann aber sprach zu Eli: Ich komme und bin heute aus dem Heer geflohen. Er aber sprach: Wie geht es zu, mein Sohn?
17 And the man said, Israel went in flight from the Philistines, and there has been great destruction among the people, and your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God has been taken.
17 Celui qui apportait la nouvelle dit en réponse: Israël a fui devant les Philistins, et le peuple a éprouvé une grande défaite; et même tes deux fils, Hophni et Phinées, sont morts, et l'arche de Dieu a été prise.
17 D'fhreagair an teachtaire: “Chuir na Filistínigh an teitheadh ar Iosrael. Briseadh go tubaisteach ar an arm; mar bharr ar an donas, tá Hofnaí agus Píneachás, do bheirt mhac, marbh agus tá áirc Dé gafa.”
17 Y el mensajero respondió, y dijo: Israel huyó delante de los Filisteos, y también fué hecha gran mortandad en el pueblo; y también tus dos hijos, Ophni y Phinees, son muertos, y el arca de Dios fué tomada.
17 Da antwortete der Verkündiger und sprach: Israel ist geflohen vor den Philistern, und ist eine große Schlacht im Volk geschehen, und deine zwei Söhne, Hophni und Pinehas, sind gestorben; dazu die Lade Gottes ist genommen.
18 And at these words about the ark of God, Eli, falling back off his seat by the side of the doorway into the town, came down on the earth so that his neck was broken and death overtook him, for he was an old man and of great weight. He had been judging Israel for forty years.
18 A peine eut-il fait mention de l'arche de Dieu, qu'Éli tomba de son siège à la renverse, à côté de la porte; il se rompit la nuque et mourut, car c'était un homme vieux et pesant. Il avait été juge en Israël pendant quarante ans.
18 Nuair a luaigh sé áirc Dé, thit Éilí siar dá chathaoir ag an ngeata; briseadh a mhuineál agus fuair sé bás, óir bhí sé aosta, trom. Bhí daichead bliain caite aige mar bhreitheamh ar Iosrael.
18 Y aconteció que como él hizo mención del arca de Dios, Eli cayó hacia atrás de la silla al lado de la puerta, y quebrósele la cerviz, y murió: porque era hombre viejo y pesado. Y había juzgado á Israel cuarenta años.
18 Da er aber der Lade Gottes gedachte, fiel er zurück vom Stuhl am Tor und brach seinen Hals entzwei und starb; denn er war alt und ein schwerer Mann. Er richtete aber Israel vierzig Jahre.
19 And his daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was with child and near the time when she would give birth; and when she had the news that the ark of God had been taken and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, her pains came on her suddenly and she gave birth.
19 Sa belle-fille, femme de Phinées, était enceinte et sur le point d'accoucher. Lorsqu'elle entendit la nouvelle de la prise de l'arche de Dieu, de la mort de son beau-père et de celle de son mari, elle se courba et accoucha, car les douleurs la surprirent.
19 Bhí bean a mhic, Píneachás, ag iompar clainne agus a hionú ag druidim léi. Nuair a chuala sí gur gabhadh áirc Dé agus go raibh athair a céile agus a céile féin araon marbh, luigh sí síos agus lámhnaigh mar gur tháinig tinneas linbh uirthi.
19 Y su nuera, la mujer de Phinees, que estaba preñada, cercana al parto, oyendo el rumor que el arca de Dios era tomada, y muertos su suegro y su marido, encorvóse y parió; porque sus dolores se habían ya derramado por ella.
19 Seine Schwiegertochter aber, des Pinehas Weib, war schwanger und sollte gebären. Da sie das Gerücht hörte, daß die Lade Gottes genommen und ihr Schwiegervater und ihr Mann tot war, krümmte sie sich und gebar; denn es kam sie ihre Wehe an.
20 And when she was very near death the women who were with her said, Have no fear, for you have given birth to a son. But she made no answer and gave no attention to it.
20 Comme elle allait mourir, les femmes qui étaient auprès d'elle lui dirent: Ne crains point, car tu as enfanté un fils! Mais elle ne répondit pas et n'y fit pas attention.
20 Nuair a bhí sí ag saothrú an bháis, dúirt na mná a bhí ina seasamh timpeall uirthi: “Ná bíodh eagla ort! Rug tú mac!” Ach níor thug sí aon fhreagra orthu agus ní raibh aon aird aici orthu.
20 Y al tiempo que se moría, decíanle las que estaban junto á ella: No tengas temor, porque has parido un hijo. Mas ella no respondió, ni paró mientes.
20 Und da sie jetzt starb, sprachen die Weiber, die neben ihr standen: Fürchte dich nicht, du hast einen jungen Sohn. Aber sie antwortete nicht und nahm's auch nicht zu Herzen.
21 And she gave the child the name of Ichabod, saying, The glory has gone from Israel: because the ark of God was taken and because of her father-in-law and her husband.
21 Elle appela l'enfant I Kabod, en disant: La gloire est bannie d'Israël! C'était à cause de la prise de l'arche de Dieu, et à cause de son beau-père et de son mari.
21 Thug sí Í Cávód ar an leanbh á rá: “Tá an ghlóir [cávód] imithe ó Iosrael,” ag cuimhneamh di ar ghabháil áirc Dé, ar athair a céile, agus ar a fear.
21 Y llamó al niño Ichâbod, diciendo: ¡Traspasada es la gloria de Israel! por el arca de Dios que fué tomada, y porque era muerto su suegro, y su marido.
21 Und sie hieß den Knaben Ikabod und sprach: Die Herrlichkeit ist dahin von Israel! weil die Lade Gottes genommen war, und wegen ihres Schwiegervaters und ihres Mannes.
22 And she said, The glory is gone from Israel, for the ark of God has been taken.
22 Elle dit: La gloire est bannie d'Israël, car l'arche de Dieu est prise!
