1 Now these are the nations which the Lord kept in the land for the purpose of testing Israel by them, all those who had had no experience of all the wars of Canaan;
1 Voici les nations que l'Éternel laissa pour éprouver par elles Israël, tous ceux qui n'avaient pas connu toutes les guerres de Canaan.

1 Estas, pues, son las gentes que dejó Jehová para probar con ellas á Israel, á todos aquellos que no habían conocido todas las guerras de Canaán;
1 Dies sind die Heiden, die der HERR ließ bleiben, daß er durch sie Israel versuchte, alle, die nicht wußten um die Kriege Kanaans,
2 Only because of the generations of the children of Israel, for the purpose of teaching them war--only those who up till then had no experience of it;
2 Il voulait seulement que les générations des enfants d'Israël connussent et apprissent la guerre, ceux qui ne l'avaient pas connue auparavant.
2 [Ar mhaithe le glúine chlann Iosrael é sin, d'fhonn ceird an chogaidh a mhúineadh dóibh, dóibh siúd ar a laghad nach raibh taithí acu ar chogadh roimhe sin]:
2 Para que al menos el linaje de los hijos de Israel conociese, para enseñarlos en la guerra, siquiera fuese á los que antes no la habían conocido:
2 und daß die Geschlechter der Kinder Israel wüßten und lernten streiten, die zuvor nichts darum wußten,
3 The five chiefs of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites and the Zidonians and the Hivites living in Mount Lebanon, from the mountain Baal-hermon as far as Hamath:
3 Ces nations étaient: les cinq princes des Philistins, tous les Cananéens, les Sidoniens, et les Héviens qui habitaient la montagne du Liban, depuis la montagne de Baal Hermon jusqu'à l'entrée de Hamath.
3 cúigear, taoiseach na bhFilistíneach, na Canánaigh go léir, na Síodónaigh, na Hitigh a bhí ag cur fúthu ar Shliabh na Liobáine, ó ardáin Bhál Hearmón go Bealach Hamát.
3 Cinco príncipes de los Philisteos, y todos los Cananeos, y los Sidonios, y los Heveos que habitaban en el monte Líbano: desde el monte de Baal-hermón hasta llegar á Hamath.
3 nämlich die fünf Fürsten der Philister und alle Kanaaniter und Sidonier und Heviter, die am Berg Libanon wohnten, von dem Berg Baal-Hermon an, bis wo man kommt gen Hamath.
4 For the purpose of testing Israel by them, to see if they would give ear to the orders of the Lord, which he had given to their fathers by the hand of Moses.
4 Ces nations servirent à mettre Israël à l'épreuve, afin que l'Éternel sût s'ils obéiraient aux commandements qu'il avait prescrits à leurs pères par Moïse.
4 Bhí sé d'fheidhm leo Iosrael a thriail féachaint an gcoimeádfaidís na haitheanta a thug an Tiarna dá sinsir ó bheal Mhaois.
4 Estos pues fueron para probar por ellos á Israel, para saber si obedecerían á los mandamientos de Jehová, que él había prescrito á sus padres por mano de Moisés.
4 Dieselben blieben, Israel durch sie zu versuchen, daß es kund würde, ob sie den Geboten des HERRN gehorchten, die er ihren Vätern geboten hatte durch Mose.
5 Now the children of Israel were living among the Canaanites, the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites:
5 Et les enfants d'Israël habitèrent au milieu des Cananéens, des Héthiens, des Amoréens, des Phéréziens, des Héviens et des Jébusiens;
5 Chuir clann Iosrael fúthu dá bhrí sin i measc na gCanánach, na Hiteach, na nAmórach, na bPirizeach, na Hiveach, na Iabúsach;
5 Así los hijos de Israel habitaban entre los Cananeos, Hetheos, Amorrheos, Pherezeos, Heveos, y Jebuseos:
5 Da nun die Kinder Israel also wohnten unter den Kanaanitern, Hethitern, Amoritern, Pheresitern, Hevitern und Jebusitern,
6 And they took as wives the daughters of these nations and gave their daughters to their sons, and became servants to their gods.
6 ils prirent leurs filles pour femmes, ils donnèrent à leurs fils leurs propres filles, et ils servirent leurs dieux.

6 Y tomaron de sus hijas por mujeres, y dieron sus hijas á los hijos de ellos, y sirvieron á sus dioses.
6 nahmen sie jener Töchter zu Weibern und gaben ihre Töchter jener Söhnen und dienten jener Göttern.
7 And the children of Israel did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and put out of their minds the Lord their God, and became servants to the Baals and the Astartes.
7 Les enfants d'Israël firent ce qui déplaît à l'Éternel, ils oublièrent l'Éternel, et ils servirent les Baals et les idoles.
7 Rinne pobal Iosrael an t‑olc i bhfianaise an Tiarna. Rinneadar dearmad ar an Tiarna, a nDia, go ndearnadar fónamh do na Bálaím agus do na hAiseárót.
7 Hicieron, pues, los hijos de Israel lo malo en ojos de Jehová: y olvidados de Jehová su Dios, sirvieron á los Baales, y á los ídolos de los bosques.
7 Und die Kinder Israel taten übel vor dem HERRN und vergaßen des HERRN, ihres Gottes, und dienten den Baalim und den Ascheroth.
8 So the wrath of the Lord was burning against Israel, and he gave them up into the hands of Cushan-rishathaim, king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel were his servants for eight years.
8 La colère de l'Éternel s'enflamma contre Israël, et il les vendit entre les mains de Cuschan Rischeathaïm, roi de Mésopotamie. Et les enfants d'Israël furent asservis huit ans à Cuschan Rischeathaïm.
8 Ansin bhladhm fearg an Tiarna in aghaidh Iosrael, agus thug sé ar láimh iad do Chúisean Riseátaím, rí Eadóm. Bhí pobal Iosrael faoi dhaoirse ag Chúisean Riseátaím ar feadh ocht mbliana.
8 Y la saña de Jehová se encendió contra Israel, y vendiólos en manos de Chusan-risathaim rey de Mesopotamia; y sirvieron los hijos de Israel á Chusan-risathaim ocho años.
8 Da ergrimmte der Zorn des HERRN über Israel, und er verkaufte sie unter die Hand Kusan-Risathaims, des Königs von Mesopotamien; und dienten also die Kinder Israel dem Kusan-Risathaim acht Jahre.
9 And when the children of Israel made prayer to the Lord, he gave them a saviour, Othniel, the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
9 Les enfants d'Israël crièrent à l'Éternel, et l'Éternel leur suscita un libérateur qui les délivra, Othniel, fils de Kenaz, frère cadet de Caleb.
9 Ghlaoigh clann Iosrael ar an Tiarna, agus d'ardaigh an Tiarna fuasclóir do chlann Iosrael, Oitníéil mac Canaz, deartháir ab óige ná Cálaeb.
9 Y clamaron los hijos de Israel á Jehová; y Jehová suscitó salvador á los hijos de Israel y librólos; es á saber, á Othoniel hijo de Cenez, hermano menor de Caleb.
9 Da schrieen die Kinder Israel zu dem HERRN; und der HERR erweckte ihnen einen Heiland, der sie erlöste; Othniel, den Sohn Kenas, Kalebs jüngsten Bruder.
10 And the spirit of the Lord came on him and he became judge of Israel, and went out to war, and the Lord gave up Cushan-rishathaim, king of Mesopotamia, into his hands and he overcame him.
10 L'esprit de l'Éternel fut sur lui. Il devint juge en Israël, et il partit pour la guerre. L'Éternel livra entre ses mains Cuschan Rischeathaïm, roi de Mésopotamie, et sa main fut puissante contre Cuschan Rischeathaïm.
10 Tháinig spiorad an Tiarna air, agus rinne breitheamh de in Iosrael. Chuaigh sé chun cogaidh agus thug an Tiarna Cúisean Riseátaím, rí Eadóm, ar láimh dó, agus bhí an lámh in uachtar aige ar Chúisean Riseátaím.
10 Y el espíritu de Jehová fué sobre él, y juzgó á Israel, y salió á batalla, y Jehová entregó en su mano á Chusan-risathaim, rey de Siria, y prevaleció su mano contra Chusan-risathaim.
10 Und der Geist des HERRN kam auf ihn, und er ward Richter in Israel und zog aus zum Streit. Und der HERR gab den König von Mesopotamien, Kusan-Risathaim, in seine Hand, daß seine Hand über ihn zu stark ward.
11 Then for forty years the land had peace, till the death of Othniel, the son of Kenaz.
11 Le pays fut en repos pendant quarante ans. Et Othniel, fils de Kenaz, mourut.
11 Bhí suaimhneas sa tír ansin ar feadh daichead bliain. Éahúd Nuair a fuair Oitníéil mac Canaz bás,
11 Y reposó la tierra cuarenta años; y murió Othoniel, hijo de Cenez.
11 Da ward das Land still vierzig Jahre. Und Othniel, der Sohn Kenas, starb.
12 Then the children of Israel again did evil in the eyes of the Lord; and the Lord made Eglon, king of Moab, strong against Israel, because they had done evil in the Lord's eyes.
12 Les enfants d'Israël firent encore ce qui déplaît à l'Éternel; et l'Éternel fortifia Églon, roi de Moab, contre Israël, parce qu'ils avaient fait ce qui déplaît à l'Éternel.
12 rinne pobal Iosrael an t‑olc i bhfianaise an Tiarna. Neartaigh an Tiarna Eaglón rí Mhóáb in aghaidh Iosrael, mar go dearnadar an t‑olc i bhfianaise an Tiarna.
12 Y tornaron los hijos de Israel á hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; y Jehová esforzó á Eglón rey de Moab contra Israel, por cuanto habían hecho lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.
12 Aber die Kinder Israel taten fürder übel vor dem HERRN. Da stärkte der HERR den Eglon, den König der Moabiter, wider Israel, darum daß sie übel taten vor dem HERRN.
13 And Eglon got together the people of Ammon and Amalek, and they went and overcame Israel and took the town of palm-trees.
13 Églon réunit à lui les fils d'Ammon et les Amalécites, et il se mit en marche. Il battit Israël, et ils s'emparèrent de la ville des palmiers.
13 Chruinnigh sé chuige na hAmónaigh agus na hAmailéicigh, ghabh chun catha in aghaidh Iosrael agus bhris orthu, agus ghabh sé cathair na bPailmeacha.
13 Y Juntó consigo á los hijos de Ammón y de Amalec, y fué, é hirió á Israel, y tomó la ciudad de las palmas.
13 Und er sammelte zu sich die Kinder Ammon und die Amalekiter und zog hin und schlug Israel und nahm ein die Palmenstadt.
14 And the children of Israel were servants to Eglon, king of Moab, for eighteen years.
14 Et les enfants d'Israël furent asservis dix-huit ans à Églon, roi de Moab.
14 Bhí pobal Iosrael go léir faoi dhaoirse ag Eaglón rí Mhoáb ar feadh ocht mbliana déag.
14 Y sirvieron los hijos de Israel á Eglón rey de los Moabitas diez y ocho años.
14 Und die Kinder Israel dienten Eglon, dem König der Moabiter, achtzehn Jahre.
15 Then when the children of Israel made prayer to the Lord, he gave them a saviour, Ehud, the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man; and the children of Israel sent an offering by him to Eglon, king of Moab.
15 Les enfants d'Israël crièrent à l'Éternel, et l'Éternel leur suscita un libérateur, Éhud, fils de Guéra, Benjamite, qui ne se servait pas de la main droite. Les enfants d'Israël envoyèrent par lui un présent à Églon, roi de Moab.
15 Ansin ghlaoigh clann Iosrael ar an Tiarna, agus ardaigh an Tiarna fuasclóir dóibh, Éahúd mac Ghéará, an Biniáimineach, ciotóg. Cheap clann Iosrael é lena gcáin a thabhairt d'Eaglón rí Mhóáb.
15 Y clamaron los hijos de Israel á Jehová; y Jehová les suscitó salvador, á Aod, hijo de Gera, Benjamita, el cual tenía cerrada la mano derecha. Y los hijos de Israel enviaron con él un presente á Eglón rey de Moab.
15 Da schrieen sie zu dem HERRN; und der HERR erweckte ihnen einen Heiland: Ehud, den Sohn Geras, den Benjaminiten, der war links. Und da die Kinder Israel durch ihn Geschenk sandten Eglon, dem König der Moabiter,
16 So Ehud made himself a two-edged sword, a cubit long, which he put on at his right side under his robe.
16 Éhud se fit une épée à deux tranchants, longue d'une coudée, et il la ceignit sous ses vêtements, au côté droit.
16 Rinne Éahúd claíomh dhá fhaobhar dó féin, é banlámh ar fad, agus chuir i bhfearas é ar a shliasaid dheas faoina chuid éadaigh.
16 Y Aod se había hecho un puñal de dos filos, de un codo de largo; y ciñósele debajo de sus vestidos á su lado derecho.
16 machte sich Ehud ein zweischneidig Schwert, eine Elle lang, und gürtete es unter sein Kleid auf seine rechte Hüfte
17 And he took the offering to Eglon, king of Moab, who was a very fat man.
17 Il offrit le présent à Églon, roi de Moab: or Églon était un homme très gras.
17 Chuir sé an cháin faoi bhráid Eaglón rí Mhóáb. Fear an- chothaithe a ba ea Eaglón.
17 Y presentó el presente á Eglón rey de Moab; y era Eglón hombre muy grueso.
17 und brachte das Geschenk dem Eglon, dem König der Moabiter. Eglon aber war ein sehr fetter Mann.
18 And after giving the offering, he sent away the people who had come with the offering.
18 Lorsqu'il eut achevé d'offrir le présent, il renvoya les gens qui l'avaient apporté.
18 Nuair a bhí an cháin curtha i láthair Eaglón aige, d'imigh sé leis an muintir a d'iompair an cháin.
18 Y luego que hubo presentado el don, despidió á la gente que lo había traído.
18 Und da er das Geschenk hatte überantwortet, ließ er das Volk von sich, die das Geschenk getragen hatten,
19 But he himself, turning back from the stone images at Gilgal, said, I have something to say to you in secret, O king. And he said, Let there be quiet. Then all those who were waiting before him went out.
19 Il revint lui-même depuis les carrières près de Guilgal, et il dit: O roi! j'ai quelque chose de secret à te dire. Le roi dit: Silence! Et tous ceux qui étaient auprès de lui sortirent.
19 Ach d'fhill sé féin ar ais ó Íola Ghilgeál, agus dúirt: “Tá teachtaireacht rúin agam duit, a rí.” “Ciúnas,” a d'fhógair an rí agus amach leis na giollaí go léir óna láthair.
19 Mas él se volvió desde los ídolos que están en Gilgal, y dijo: Rey, una palabra secreta tengo que decirte. El entonces dijo: Calla. Y saliéronse de con él todos los que delante de él estaban.
19 und kehrte um von den Götzen zu Gilgal und ließ ansagen: Ich habe, o König, dir was Heimliches zu sagen. Er aber hieß schweigen, und gingen aus von ihm alle, die um ihn standen.
20 Then Ehud came in to him while he was seated by himself in his summer-house. And Ehud said, I have a word from God for you. And he got up from his seat.
20 Éhud l'aborda comme il était assis seul dans sa chambre d'été, et il dit: J'ai une parole de Dieu pour toi. Églon se leva de son siège.

20 Und Ehud kam zu ihm hinein. Er aber saß oben in der Sommerlaube, die für ihn allein war. Und Ehud sprach: Ich habe Gottes Wort an dich. Da stand er auf vom Stuhl.
21 And Ehud put out his left hand, and took the sword from his right side, and sent it into his stomach;
21 Alors Éhud avança la main gauche, tira l'épée de son côté droit, et la lui enfonça dans le ventre.

22 And the hand-part went in after the blade, and the fat was joined up over the blade; for he did not take the sword out of his stomach. And he went out into the ...
22 La poignée même entra après la lame, et la graisse se referma autour de la lame; car il ne retira pas du ventre l'épée, qui sortit par derrière.

23 Then Ehud went out into the covered way, shutting the doors of the summer-house on him and locking them.
23 Éhud sortit par le portique, ferma sur lui les portes de la chambre haute, et tira le verrou.
23 Chuaigh Éahúd amach sa phóirse ansin, dhún doirse an tseomra uachtair air, agus chuir an glas orthu.
23 Y saliendo Aod al patio, cerró tras sí las puertas de la sala.
23 Aber Ehud ging zum Saal hinaus und tat die Tür der Sommerlaube hinter sich zu und verschloß sie.
24 Now when he had gone, the king's servants came, and saw that the doors of the summer-house were locked; and they said, It may be that he is in his summer-house for a private purpose.
24 Quand il fut sorti, les serviteurs du roi vinrent et regardèrent; et voici, les portes de la chambre haute étaient fermées au verrou. Ils dirent: Sans doute il se couvre les pieds dans la chambre d'été.
24 Nuair a bhí sé imithe, tháinig na giollaí agus d'fhéachadar; bhí an glas ar dhoirse an tseomra uachtair. “Ag déanamh a ghnó ar chúl an tseomra fhionnuair,” ar siad leo féin, “atá sé.”
24 Y salido él, vinieron sus siervos, los cuales viendo las puertas de la sala cerradas, dijeron: Sin duda él cubre sus pies en la sala de verano.
24 Da er nun hinaus war, kamen seine Knechte und sahen, daß die Tür verschlossen war, und sprachen: Er ist vielleicht zu Stuhl gegangen in der Kammer an der Sommerlaube.
25 And they went on waiting till they were shamed, but the doors were still shut; so they took the key, and, opening them, saw their lord stretched out dead on the floor.
25 Ils attendirent longtemps; et comme il n'ouvrait pas les portes de la chambre haute, ils prirent la clé et ouvrirent, et voici, leur maître était mort, étendu par terre.

26 But Ehud had got away while they were waiting and had gone past the stone images and got away to Seirah.

26 Mas entre tanto que ellos se detuvieron, Aod se escapó, y pasando los ídolos, salvóse en Seirath.
26 Ehud aber war entronnen, dieweil sie verzogen, und ging an den Götzen vorüber und entrann bis gen Seira.
27 And when he came there, he had a horn sounded in the hill-country of Ephraim, and all the children of Israel went down with him from the hill-country, and he at their head.
27 Dès qu'il fut arrivé, il sonna de la trompette dans la montagne d'Éphraïm. Les enfants d'Israël descendirent avec lui de la montagne, et il se mit à leur tête.
27 Nuair a shroich sé críocha Iosrael shéid sé ar an adharc in ardáin Eafráim; tháinig clann Iosrael anuas ó na hardáin in éineacht leis, agus eisean i gceannas orthu.
27 Y como hubo entrado, tocó el cuerno en el monte de Ephraim, y los hijos de Israel descendieron con él del monte, y él iba delante de ellos.
27 Und da er hineinkam, blies er die Posaune auf dem Gebirge Ephraim. Und die Kinder Israel zogen mit ihm vom Gebirge und er vor ihnen her,
28 And he said to them, Come after me; for the Lord has given the Moabites, your haters, into your hands. So they went down after him and took the crossing-places of Jordan against Moab, and let no one go across.
28 Il leur dit: Suivez-moi, car l'Éternel a livré entre vos mains les Moabites, vos ennemis. Ils descendirent après lui, s'emparèrent des gués du Jourdain vis-à-vis de Moab, et ne laissèrent passer personne.
28 Dúirt sé leo: “Leanaigí mise óir rinne an Tiarna bhur namhaid Móáb a thabhairt ar láimh daoibh.” Lean siad é dá bhrí sin, agus ghabh áthanna na Iordáine in aghaidh na Móábach gan a ligean do chaonaí dul sall.
28 Entonces él les dijo: Seguidme, porque Jehová ha entregado vuestros enemigos los Moabitas en vuestras manos. Y descendieron en pos de él, y tomaron los vados del Jordán á Moab, y no dejaron pasar á ninguno.
28 und sprach zu ihnen: Jagt mir nach; denn der HERR hat euch die Moabiter, eure Feinde, in eure Hände gegeben! Und sie jagten ihm nach und gewannen die Furten am Jordan, die gen Moab gehen, und ließen niemand hinüber
29 At that time they put about ten thousand men of Moab to the sword, every strong man and every man of war; not a man got away.
29 Ils battirent dans ce temps-là environ dix mille hommes de Moab, tous robustes, tous vaillants, et pas un n'échappa.
29 Mharaíodar an uair sin timpeall deich míle Móábach; laochra tréana cumasacha iad uile; níor fágadh fear inste scéil díobh.
29 Y en aquel tiempo hirieron de los Moabitas como diez mil hombres, todos valientes y todos hombres de guerra; no escapó hombre.
29 und schlugen die Moabiter zu der Zeit, bei zehntausend Mann, allzumal die besten und streitbare Männer, daß nicht einer entrann.
30 So Moab was broken that day under the hand of Israel. And for eighty years the land had peace.
30 En ce jour, Moab fut humilié sous la main d'Israël. Et le pays fut en repos pendant quatre-vingts ans.
30 Fuair Iosrael lámh in uachtar ar Mhóáb an lá sin, agus bhí suaimhneas sa tír ansin ar feadh ceithre fichid bliain.
30 Así quedó Moab sojuzgado aquel día bajo la mano de Israel: y reposó la tierra ochenta años.
30 Also wurden die Moabiter zu der Zeit unter die Hand der Kinder Israel gedämpft. Und das Land war still achtzig Jahre.
31 And after him came Shamgar, the son of Anath, who put to death six hundred Philistines with an ox-stick; and he was another saviour of Israel.
31 Après lui, il y eut Schamgar, fils d'Anath. Il battit six cents hommes des Philistins avec un aiguillon à boeufs. Et lui aussi fut un libérateur d'Israël.
