1 And the Lord said to Joshua,
1 L'Éternel parla à Josué, et dit:

1 Und der HERR redete mit Josua und sprach:
2 Say to the children of Israel, Let certain towns be marked out as safe places, as I said to you by the mouth of Moses,
2 Parle aux enfants d'Israël, et dit: Établissez-vous, comme je vous l'ai ordonné par Moïse, des villes de refuge,
2 “Labhair leis na hIosraelaigh agus abair leo:
2 Habla á los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Señalaos las ciudades de refugio, de las cuales yo os hablé por Moisés;
2 Sage den Kindern Israel: Gebt unter euch Freistädte, davon ich durch Mose euch gesagt habe,
3 So that any man who in error and without design has taken the life of another, may go in flight to them: and they will be safe places for you from him who has the right of punishment for blood.
3 où pourra s'enfuir le meurtrier qui aura tué quelqu'un involontairement, sans intention; elles vous serviront de refuge contre le vengeur du sang.
3 ‘Ainmnígí na cathracha tearmainn ar ar labhair mé libh trí Mhaois; cathracha inar féidir le marfóir a dhéanann marú gan bheartú nó trí thaisme dídean a fháil; beidh na cathracha seo mar thearmann agaibh ón díoltach fola.
3 Para que se acoja allí el homicida que matare á alguno por yerro y no á sabiendas; que os sean por acogimiento del cercano del muerto.
3 dahin fliehen möge ein Totschläger, der eine Seele unversehens und unwissend schlägt, daß sie unter euch frei seien von dem Bluträcher.
4 And if anyone goes in flight to one of those towns, and comes into the public place of the town, and puts his cause before the responsible men of the town, they will take him into the town and give him a place among them where he may be safe.
4 Le meurtrier s'enfuira vers l'une de ces villes, s'arrêtera à l'entrée de la porte de la ville, et exposera son cas aux anciens de cette ville; ils le recueilleront auprès d'eux dans la ville, et lui donneront une demeure, afin qu'il habite avec eux.
4 Ní miste don mharfóir teitheadh go dtí ceann de na cathracha seo; seasadh sé ag an mbealach isteach trí gheata na cathrach agus míníodh sé a chás do sheanóirí na háite. Tabharfaidh siad isteach sa chathair ansin é agus tabharfaidh siad áit chónaithe dó ina measc.
4 Y el que se acogiere á alguna de aquellas ciudades, presentaráse á la puerta de la ciudad, y dirá sus causas, oyéndolo los ancianos de aquella ciudad: y ellos le recibirán consigo dentro de la ciudad, y le darán lugar que habite con ellos.
4 Und der da flieht zu der Städte einer, soll stehen draußen vor der Stadt Tor und vor den Ältesten der Stadt seine Sache ansagen; so sollen sie ihn zu sich in die Stadt nehmen und ihm Raum geben, daß er bei ihnen wohne.
5 And if the one who has the right of punishment comes after him, they are not to give the taker of life up to him; because he was the cause of his neighbour's death without designing it and not in hate.
5 Si le vengeur du sang le poursuit, ils ne livreront point le meurtrier entre ses mains; car c'est sans le vouloir qu'il a tué son prochain, et sans avoir été auparavant son ennemi.
5 Má bhíonn an díoltach fola sa tóir air, ná tugaidís an marfóir ar láimh dó, mar gur mharaigh sé a chomharsa trí thaisme, gan aon fhaltanas a bheith aige leis roimhe sin.
5 Y cuando el cercano del muerto le siguiere, no entregarán en su mano al homicida, por cuanto hirió á su prójimo por yerro, ni tuvo con él antes enemistad.
5 Und wenn der Bluträcher ihm nachjagt, sollen sie den Totschläger nicht in seine Hände übergeben, weil er unwissend seinen Nächsten geschlagen hat und ist ihm zuvor nicht feind gewesen.
6 And he is to go on living in that town till he has to come before the meeting of the people to be judged; (till the death of him who is high priest at that time:) then the taker of life may come back to his town and to his house, to the town from which he had gone in flight.
6 Il restera dans cette ville jusqu'à ce qu'il ait comparu devant l'assemblée pour être jugé, jusqu'à la mort du souverain sacrificateur alors en fonctions. A cette époque, le meurtrier s'en retournera et rentrera dans sa ville et dans sa maison, dans la ville d'où il s'était enfui.
6 Fanadh an marfóir sa chathair sin nó go seasa sé a thriail os comhair an chomhthionóil, go bhfaighe an t‑ardsagart in oifig bás; tá cead ansin ag an marfóir filleadh ar a chathair féin agus ar a bhaile féin, ar an gcathair as ar theith sé.’ ”
6 Y quedará en aquella ciudad hasta que parezca en juicio delante del ayuntamiento, hasta la muerte del gran sacerdote que fuere en aquel tiempo: entonces el homicida tornará y vendrá á su ciudad y á su casa y á la ciudad de donde huyó.
6 So soll er in der Stadt wohnen, bis daß er stehe vor der Gemeinde vor Gericht, und bis daß der Hohepriester sterbe, der zur selben Zeit sein wird. Alsdann soll der Totschläger wiederkommen in seine Stadt und in sein Haus, zur Stadt, davon er geflohen ist.
7 So they made selection of Kedesh in Galilee in the hill-country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (which is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah.
7 Ils consacrèrent Kédesch, en Galilée, dans la montagne de Nephthali; Sichem, dans la montagne d'Éphraïm; et Kirjath Arba, qui est Hébron, dans la montagne de Juda.
7 Roghnaíodar Ceidis sa Ghailíl in ardáin Naftáilí, agus Seicim in ardáin Eafráim, agus Ciriat Arba [Heabrón is é sin] in ardáin Iúdá.
7 Entonces señalaron á Cedes en Galilea, en el monte de Nephtalí, y á Sichêm en el monte de Ephraim, y á Chîriath-arba, que es Hebrón, en el monte de Judá.
7 Da heiligten sie Kedes in Galiläa, auf dem Gebirge Naphthali, und Sichem auf dem Gebirge Ephraim und Kirjath-Arba, das ist Hebron, auf dem Gebirge Juda;
8 And on the east side of Jordan at Jericho, they made selection of Bezer in the waste land, in the table-land, out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
8 Et de l'autre côté du Jourdain, à l'orient de Jéricho, ils choisirent Betser, dans le désert, dans la plaine, dans la tribu de Ruben; Ramoth, en Galaad, dans la tribu de Gad; et Golan, en Basan, dans la tribu de Manassé.
8 Lastall den Iordáin, lastoir sall ó Ireachó, san fhásach ar an ardchlár, roghnaíodar Beizir le treibh Reúbaen, agus Rámót Gileád le treibh Ghád, agus Golán i mBáiseán le treibh Mhanaise.
8 Y de la otra parte del Jordán de Jericó, al oriente, señalaron á Beser en el desierto, en la llanura de la tribu de Rubén, y á Ramoth en Galaad de la tribu de Gad, y á Gaulón en Basán de la tribu de Manasés.
8 und jenseit des Jordans, da Jericho liegt, gegen Aufgang, gaben sie Bezer in der Wüste auf der Ebene aus dem Stamm Ruben und Ramoth in Gilead aus dem Stamm Gad und Golan in Basan aus dem Stamm Manasse.
9 These were the towns marked out for all the children of Israel and for the man from a strange country living among them, so that anyone causing the death of another in error, might go in flight there, and not be put to death by him who has the right of punishment for blood till he had come before the meeting of the people.
9 Telles furent les villes désignées pour tous les enfants d'Israël et pour l'étranger en séjour au milieu d'eux, afin que celui qui aurait tué quelqu'un involontairement pût s'y réfugier, et qu'il ne mourût pas de la main du vengeur du sang avant d'avoir comparu devant l'assemblée.
