Exodus 2

1 Now Moses was looking after the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian: and he took the flock to the back of the waste land and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

1 Bhí Maois ag aoireacht tréad athair a chéile, Iatró, sagart Mhidián. Sheol sé a thréad go hiarthar an fhásaigh agus tháinig go Horaeb, sliabh Dé.

2 And the angel of the Lord was seen by him in a flame of fire coming out of a thorn-tree: and he saw that the tree was on fire, but it was not burned up.

2 Thaispeáin aingeal an Tiarna é féin dó ansiúd i riocht lasair thine ag teacht as lár toir; d'fhéach sé agus b'shiúd an tor ar lasadh ach gan é á dhó.

2 Und der Engel des HERRN erschien ihm in einer feurigen Flamme aus dem Busch. Und er sah, daß der Busch mit Feuer brannte und ward doch nicht verzehrt;

3 And Moses said, I will go and see this strange thing, why the tree is not burned up,

3 “Caithfidh mé dul i leataobh,” arsa Maois, “agus an radharc iontach seo a fheiceáil - cen fáth a bhfuil an tor gan do.”

4 And when the Lord saw him turning to one side to see, God said his name out of the tree, crying, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

4 Nuair a chonaic an Tiarna é agus é ag dul i leataobh á fheiceáil, ghlaoigh Dia air ón tor: “A Mhaois, a Mhaois!”

5 And he said, Do not come near: take off your shoes from your feet, for the place where you are is holy.

5 “Ná tar níos gaire,” arsa [an Tiarna], “bain do bhróga de do chosa óir an ball ar a bhfuil tú i do sheasamh, is talamh naofa é.”

6 And he said, I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses kept his face covered for fear of looking on God.

6 “Is mise,” ar sé ansin, “Dia d'athar, Dia Abrahám, Dia Íosác, Dia Iacóib.” Agus chlúdaigh Maois a aghaidh mar nár leomhaigh sé féachaint ar Dhia.

7 And God said, Truly, I have seen the grief of my people in Egypt, and their cry because of their cruel masters has come to my ears; for I have knowledge of their sorrows;

7 Ansin dúirt an Tiarna: “Chonaic mé an cruatan atá ar mo phobal san Éigipt agus chuala mé a screadaíl de bharr a saoistí saothair; is eol dom a bpianta.

8 And I have come down to take them out of the hands of the Egyptians, guiding them out of that land into a good land and wide, into a land flowing with milk and honey; into the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.

8 Tháinig mé anuas chun iad a fhuascailt as lámha na nÉigipteach agus chun iad a sheoladh as an tír sin isteach i dtír mhéith fhairsing, i dtír ina bhfuil bainne agus mil ina slaoda, i dtír na gCanánach agus na Hiteach, na nAmórach agus na bPirizeach, na Hiveach agus na Iabúsach.

9 For now, truly, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me, and I have seen the cruel behaviour of the Egyptians to them.

9 Anois tá scread chlann Iosrael tagtha chugam agus chonaic mé an leatrom a imríonn na hÉigiptigh orthu.

10 Come, then, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may take my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.

10 Téanam mar sin agus cuirfidh mé ag triall ar Fhorann thú chun go dtabharfá mo phobal, clann Iosrael, as an Éigipt amach.”

11 And Moses said to God, Who am I to go to Pharaoh and take the children of Israel out of Egypt?

11 Dúirt Maois le Dia: “Cé hé mise a rá is go rachainn ag triall ar Fhorann agus clann Iosrael a thabhairt ón Éigipt amach?”

12 And he said, Truly I will be with you; and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: when you have taken the children of Israel out of Egypt, you will give worship to God on this mountain.

12 “Beidh mise leat,” ar sé, “agus beidh seo mar chomhartha agat air gur mise a sheol thú. Nuair a thabharfaidh tú mo phobal leat amach as an Éigipt, déanfaidh tú Dia a adhradh ar an gcnoc seo.”

13 And Moses said to God, When I come to the children of Israel and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you: and they say to me, What is his name? what am I to say to them?

13 Ansin dúirt Maois le Dia: “Má théim go clann Iosrael agus a rá leo: ‘Dia bhur n‑aithreacha a chuir mise chugaibh,’ agus go bhfiafraíonn siad díom: ‘Cén t‑ainm atá air?’ céard a déarfaidh mé leo?”

14 And God said to him, I AM WHAT I AM: and he said, Say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.

14 Dúirt Dia le Maois: “Is mé an te atá ann,” agus lean sé air: “agus abair é seo le clann Iosrael: ‘An té atá ann is é a sheol chugaibh mé.’ ”

15 And God went on to say to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has sent me to you: this is my name for ever, and this is my sign to all generations.

15 Agus dúirt Dia arís le Maois: “Seo mar a déarfaidh tú le clann Iosrael: ‘An Tiarna, Dia bhur n‑aithreacha, Dia Abrahám, Dia Íosác, Dia Iacóib, is é a chuir chugaibh mé.’ Sin é m'ainm ar feadh na síoraíochta agus sin mar a bheidh m'ainm á ghlaoch ó ghlúin go glúin. ”

16 Go and get together the chiefs of the children of Israel, and say to them, The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has been seen by me, and has said, Truly I have taken up your cause, because of what is done to you in Egypt;

16 “Imigh agus cruinnigh seanóirí chlann Iosrael le chéile agus abair leo: ‘An Tiarna, Dia bhur n‑aithreacha, Dia Abrahám, Dia Íosác, Dia Iacóib, thaispeáin sé é féin dom, agus dúirt sé liom: Tháinig mé ar cuairt chugaibh agus chonaic mé a ndearnadh libh san Éigipt;

16 Ve, y junta los ancianos de Israel, y diles: Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac, y de Jacob, me apareció, diciendo: De cierto os he visitado, y visto lo que se os hace en Egipto;

17 And I have said, I will take you up out of the sorrows of Egypt into the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, into a land flowing with milk and honey.

17 agus chinn mé sibh a thabhairt amach as cruatan na hÉigipte agus isteach i dtír na gCanánach agus na Hiteach, na nAmórach agus na bPirizeach, na Hiveach agus na Iabúsach, i dtír ina bhfuil bainne agus mil ina slaoda.’

18 And they will give ear to your voice: and you, with the chiefs of Israel, will go to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and say to him, The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has come to us: let us then go three days' journey into the waste land to make an offering to the Lord our God.

18 Agus éistfidh siad le do ghlór agus ní foláir duit féin agus do sheanóirí Iosrael, dul i láthair rí na hÉigipte agus a rá leis: ‘An Tiarna, Dia Iosrael, tháinig sé ag triall orainn, agus anois lig dúinn dul aistear trí lá isteach san fhásach go ndéanfaimis íobairt don Tiarna ár nDia.’

19 And I am certain that the king of Egypt will not let you go without being forced.

20 But I will put out my hand and overcome Egypt with all the wonders which I will do among them: and after that he will let you go.

20 Sínfidh mé mo lámh ámh agus buailfidh mé an Éigipt leis na hiontais a dhéanfaidh mé inti.

21 And I will give this people grace in the eyes of the Egyptians, so that when you go out you will go out with your hands full.

21 Agus cuirfidh mé an pobal seo faoi dhea-mheas i measc na nÉigipteach i dtreo nach folamh a bheidh sibh ag imeacht daoibh nuair a imeoidh sibh.

21 Und ich will diesem Volk Gnade geben vor den Ägyptern, daß, wenn ihr auszieht, ihr nicht leer auszieht;

22 For every woman will get from her neighbour and from the woman living in her house, ornaments of silver and gold, and clothing; and you will put them on your sons and your daughters; you will take the best of their goods from the Egyptians.

22 Lorgóidh gach bean ornáidí airgid agus óir agus éidí ar a comharsa agus ar an mbean a bheidh ag cur fúithi ina teach agus cuirfidh sibh iad ar bhur mic agus ar bhur n‑iníonacha; creachfaidh sibh na hÉigiptigh ar an gcuma sin.”
