1 Now these are the names of the sons of Israel who came into Egypt; every man and his family came with Jacob.
1 Voici les noms des fils d'Israël, venus en Égypte avec Jacob et la famille de chacun d'eux:

2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;

5 All the offspring of Jacob were seventy persons: and Joseph had come to Egypt before them.

6 Then Joseph came to his end, and all his brothers, and all that generation.
6 Joseph mourut, ainsi que tous ses frères et toute cette génération-là.

6 Y murió José, y todos sus hermanos, y toda aquella generación.
6 Da nun Joseph gestorben war und alle seine Brüder und alle, die zu der Zeit gelebt hatten,
7 And the children of Israel were fertile, increasing very greatly in numbers and in power; and the land was full of them.
7 Les enfants d'Israël furent féconds et multiplièrent, ils s'accrurent et devinrent de plus en plus puissants. Et le pays en fut rempli.
7 Ach bhí an rath ar shliocht Iosrael agus chuadar i líonmhaire go mór; chuadar in iomadúlacht agus i dtreise go héachtach, i dtreo gur líonadar an tír.
7 Y los hijos de Israel crecieron, y multiplicaron, y fueron aumentados y corroborados en extremo; y llenóse la tierra de ellos.
7 wuchsen die Kinder Israel und zeugten Kinder und mehrten sich und wurden sehr viel, daß ihrer das Land voll ward.
8 Now a new king came to power in Egypt, who had no knowledge of Joseph.
8 Il s'éleva sur l'Égypte un nouveau roi, qui n'avait point connu Joseph.
8 Tháinig rí nua i réim san Éigipt, gan aon aithne aige ar Iósaef.
8 Levantóse entretanto un nuevo rey sobre Egipto, que no conocía á José; el cual dijo á su pueblo:
8 Da kam ein neuer König auf in Ägypten, der wußte nichts von Joseph
9 And he said to his people, See, the people of Israel are greater in number and in power than we are:
9 Il dit à son peuple: Voilà les enfants d'Israël qui forment un peuple plus nombreux et plus puissant que nous.
9 Agus dúirt seisean lena mhuintir: “Muintir seo Iosrael, féachaigí conas mar a sháraíonn siad sinn i líonmhaire agus i neart.
9 He aquí, el pueblo de los hijos de Israel es mayor y más fuerte que nosotros:
9 und sprach zu seinem Volk: Siehe, des Volks der Kinder Israel ist viel und mehr als wir.
10 Let us take care for fear that their numbers may become even greater, and if there is a war, they may be joined with those who are against us, and make an attack on us, and go up out of the land.
10 Allons! montrons-nous habiles à son égard; empêchons qu'il ne s'accroisse, et que, s'il survient une guerre, il ne se joigne à nos ennemis, pour nous combattre et sortir ensuite du pays.
10 Téanaigí agus bímis glic leo d'fhonn nach méadódh ar a líon, agus, má thagann cogadh orainn, nach dtaobhóidís lenár naimhde agus troid inár n‑aghaidh agus éalú as an tír.”
10 Ahora, pues, seamos sabios para con él, porque no se multiplique, y acontezca que viniendo guerra, él también se junte con nuestros enemigos, y pelee contra nosotros, y se vaya de la tierra.
10 Wohlan, wir wollen sie mit List dämpfen, daß ihrer nicht so viel werden. Denn wo sich ein Krieg erhöbe, möchten sie sich auch zu unsern Feinden schlagen und wider uns streiten und zum Lande ausziehen.
11 So they put overseers of forced work over them, in order to make their strength less by the weight of their work. And they made store-towns for Pharaoh, Pithom and Raamses.
11 Et l'on établit sur lui des chefs de corvées, afin de l'accabler de travaux pénibles. C'est ainsi qu'il bâtit les villes de Pithom et de Ramsès, pour servir de magasins à Pharaon.
11 Uime sin chuireadar saoistí saothair os a gcionn chun iad a chloí le hualaí troma; agus thógadar na cathracha Pition agus Ramasaes d'Fhorann.
11 Entonces pusieron sobre él comisarios de tributos que los molestasen con sus cargas; y edificaron á Faraón las ciudades de los bastimentos, Phithom y Raamses.
11 Und man setzte Fronvögte über sie, die sie mit schweren Diensten drücken sollten; denn man baute dem Pharao die Städte Pithon und Raemses zu Vorratshäusern.
12 But the more cruel they were to them, the more their number increased, till all the land was full of them. And the children of Israel were hated by the Egyptians.
12 Mais plus on l'accablait, plus il multipliait et s'accroissait; et l'on prit en aversion les enfants d'Israël.
12 Ach dá mhéad a luíodh orthu, is ea is mó a chuadar i líonmhaire agus a leathadar. Agus tháinig scanradh ar na hÉigiptigh roimh mhuintir Iosrael.
12 Empero cuanto más los oprimían, tanto más se multiplicaban y crecían: así que estaban ellos fastidiados de los hijos de Israel.
12 Aber je mehr sie das Volk drückten, je mehr es sich mehrte und ausbreitete. Und sie hielten die Kinder Israel wie einen Greuel.
13 And they gave the children of Israel even harder work to do:
13 Alors les Égyptiens réduisirent les enfants d'Israël à une dure servitude.
13 Chuireadar iallach ar mhuintir Iosrael dá bhrí sin seirbhis an éigin a dhéanamh,
13 Y los Egipcios hicieron servir á los hijos de Israel con dureza:
13 Und die Ägypter zwangen die Kinder Israel zum Dienst mit Unbarmherzigkeit
14 And made their lives bitter with hard work, making building-material and bricks, and doing all sorts of work in the fields under the hardest conditions.
14 Ils leur rendirent la vie amère par de rudes travaux en argile et en briques, et par tous les ouvrages des champs: et c'était avec cruauté qu'ils leur imposaient toutes ces charges.
14 agus d'fhágadar an saol go searbh acu le saothar dian i mbun moirtéil agus brící agus gach sórt saothair sna goirt; bhrúdar gach sort saothair orthu.
14 Y amargaron su vida con dura servidumbre, en hacer barro y ladrillo, y en toda labor del campo, y en todo su servicio, al cual los obligaban con rigorismo.
14 und machten ihnen ihr Leben sauer mit schwerer Arbeit in Ton und Ziegeln und mit allerlei Frönen auf dem Felde und mit allerlei Arbeit, die sie ihnen auflegten mit Unbarmherzigkeit.
15 And the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew women who gave help at the time of childbirth (the name of the one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah),
15 Le roi d'Égypte parla aussi aux sages-femmes des Hébreux, nommées l'une Schiphra, et l'autre Pua.
15 Ansin labhair rí na hÉigipte le mná cabhartha na nEabhrach - bhí Sifreá mar ainm ar bhean acu, agus Púá ar an mbean eile.
15 Y habló el rey de Egipto á las parteras de las Hebreas, una de las cuales se llamaba Siphra, y otra Phúa, y díjoles:
15 Und der König in Ägypten sprach zu den hebräischen Wehmüttern, deren eine hieß Siphra und die andere Pua:
16 When you are looking after the Hebrew women in childbirth, if it is a son you are to put him to death; but if it is a daughter, she may go on living.
16 Il leur dit: Quand vous accoucherez les femmes des Hébreux et que vous les verrez sur les sièges, si c'est un garçon, faites-le mourir; si c'est une fille, laissez-la vivre.
16 “Nuair a bhíonn sibhse,” ar sé, “ag déanamh curam mná cabhartha do mhná na nEabhrach, agus nuair a fheiceann sibh iad ar a leaba seoil, más mac a bhíonn ann maraígí é; más iníon, bíodh a hanam aici.”
16 Cuando parteareis á las Hebreas, y mirareis los asientos, si fuere hijo, matadlo; y si fuere hija, entonces viva.
16 Wenn ihr den hebräischen Weibern helft, und auf dem Stuhl seht, daß es ein Sohn ist, so tötet ihn; ist's aber eine Tochter, so laßt sie leben.
17 But the women had the fear of God, and did not do as the king of Egypt said, but let the male children go on living.
17 Mais les sages-femmes craignirent Dieu, et ne firent point ce que leur avait dit le roi d'Égypte; elles laissèrent vivre les enfants.
17 Ach bhí eagla Dé ar na mná cabhartha agus ní dhearnadar mar a d'ordaigh rí na hÉigipte dóibh ach ligeadar do na leanaí mic maireachtáil.
17 Mas las parteras temieron á Dios, y no hicieron como les mandó el rey de Egipto, sino que reservaban la vida á los niños.
17 Aber die Wehmütter fürchteten Gott und taten nicht, wie der König von Ägypten ihnen gesagt hatte, sondern ließen die Kinder leben.
18 And the king of Egypt sent for the women, and said to them, Why have you done this, and let the male children go on living?
18 Le roi d'Égypte appela les sages-femmes, et leur dit: Pourquoi avez-vous agi ainsi, et avez-vous laissé vivre les enfants?
18 Ghlaoigh rí na hÉigipte chuige ar na mná cabhartha dá bhrí sin agus d'fhiafraigh díobh: “Cad chuige daoibh é seo a dhéanamh agus na mic a choimeád beo?”
18 Y el rey de Egipto hizo llamar á las parteras y díjoles: ¿Por qué habéis hecho esto, que habéis reservado la vida á los niños?
18 Da rief der König in Ägypten die Wehmütter und sprach zu ihnen: Warum tut ihr das, daß ihr die Kinder leben lasset?
19 And they said to Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are strong, and the birth takes place before we come to them.
19 Les sages-femmes répondirent à Pharaon: C'est que les femmes des Hébreux ne sont pas comme les Égyptiennes; elles sont vigoureuses et elles accouchent avant l'arrivée de la sage-femme.
19 “Mar nach bhfuil na mná Eabhracha mar na mná Éigipteacha,” arsa na mná cabhartha le Forann. “Ach tá fuinneamh iontu agus bíonn beirthe acu sula dtagann an bhean chabhartha chucu.”
19 Y las parteras respondieron á Faraón: Porque las mujeres Hebreas no son como las Egipcias: porque son robustas, y paren antes que la partera venga á ellas.
19 Die Wehmütter antworteten Pharao: Die hebräischen Weiber sind nicht wie die ägyptischen, denn sie sind harte Weiber; ehe die Wehmutter zu ihnen kommt, haben sie geboren.
20 And the blessing of God was on these women: and the people were increased in number and became very strong.
20 Dieu fit du bien aux sages-femmes; et le peuple multiplia et devint très nombreux.
20 Bhí Dia go maith do na mná cabhartha, agus lean na daoine orthu ag dul i líonmhaire agus chuadar i neart go mór.
20 Y Dios hizo bien á las parteras: y el pueblo se multiplicó, y se corroboraron en gran manera.
20 Darum tat Gott den Wehmüttern Gutes. Und das Volk mehrte sich und ward sehr viel.
21 And because the women who took care of the Hebrew mothers had the fear of God, he gave them families.
21 Parce que les sages-femmes avaient eu la crainte de Dieu, Dieu fit prospérer leurs maisons.
21 De bhrí go raibh eagla Dé ar na mná cabhartha, bhronn sé sliocht orthu.
21 Y por haber las parteras temido á Dios, él les hizo casas.
21 Und weil die Wehmütter Gott fürchteten, baute er ihnen Häuser.
22 And Pharaoh gave orders to all his people, saying, Every son who comes to birth is to be put into the river, but every daughter may go on living.
22 Alors Pharaon donna cet ordre à tout son peuple: Vous jetterez dans le fleuve tout garçon qui naîtra, et vous laisserez vivre toutes les filles.
