Genesis 34

1 And God said to Jacob, Go up now to Beth-el and make your living-place there: and put up an altar there to the God who came to you when you were in flight from your brother Esau.

1 Dúirt Dia le Iacób: “Éirigh agus imigh leat suas go Béitéil, agus cuir fút ann, agus déan altóir ann don Dia a thaispeáin é féin duit agus tú ag teitheadh ó do dheartháir Éasau.”

2 Then Jacob said to all his people, Put away the strange gods which are among you, and make yourselves clean, and put on a change of clothing:

2 Dúirt Iacób lena theaghlach agus le cách a bhí ina theannta: “Cuirigí uaibh na déithe deoranta atá agaibh, agus déanaigí sibh féin a íonghlanadh agus cuirigí malairt éadaigh oraibh féin.

3 And let us go up to Beth-el: and there I will make an altar to God, who gave me an answer in the day of my trouble, and was with me wherever I went.

3 Éirimis ansin agus téimis suas go Béitéil chun go dtógfainn altóir ann do Dhia, an té a d'éist liom nuair a bhíos i gcruachás agus a bhí faram i ngach treo dár ghabh mé.”

4 Then they gave to Jacob all the strange gods which they had, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob put them away under the holy tree at Shechem.

4 Thugadar na déithe bréige go léir a bhí acu do Iacób, agus na fáinní óir a bhí ina gcluasa. Chuir Iacób i dtalamh iad faoin gcrann darach láimh le Seicim.

5 So they went on their journey: and the fear of God was on the towns round about, so that they made no attack on the sons of Jacob.

5 Ensuite ils partirent.

5 Chuireadar chun bóthair agus bhuail scéin ó Dhia na cathracha go léir máguaird i dtreo nach ndeachadar sa tóir ar chlann Iacóib.

6 And Jacob came to Luz in the land of Canaan (which is the same as Beth-el), he and all his people.

6 Tháinig Iacób go Lúz - Béitéil is é sin - i dtír Chanán, é féin agus an mhuintir go léir a bhí fairis.

6 Y llegó Jacob á Luz, que está en tierra de Canaán, (esta es Beth-el) él y todo el pueblo que con él estaba;

6 Also kam Jakob gen Lus im Lande Kanaan, das da Beth-El heißt, samt all dem Volk, das mit ihm war,

7 And there he made an altar, naming the place El-beth-el: because it was there he had the vision of God when he was in flight from his brother.

7 Thug sé altóir ansiúd agus thug sé Éil Béitéil ar an áit mar gur ansiúd a thaispeáin Dia é féin dó agus é ar teitheadh óna dheartháir.

8 And Deborah, the servant who had taken care of Rebekah from her birth, came to her end, and was put to rest near Beth-el, under the holy tree: and they gave it the name of Allon-bacuth.

9 Now when Jacob was on his way from Paddan-aram, God came to him again and, blessing him, said,

9 Thaispeáin Dia é féin arís eile do Iacób tar éis dó filleadh ó Phadan Arám agus bheannaigh sé é.

10 Jacob is your name, but it will be so no longer; from now your name will be Israel; so he was named Israel.

10 Dúirt Dia leis: “Iacób is ainm duit; ní thabharfar Iacób mar ainm ort feasta, ach beidh Iosrael mar ainm ort.”

Und also heißt man ihn Israel.

11 And God said to him, I am God, the Ruler of all: be fertile, and have increase; a nation, truly a group of nations, will come from you, and kings will be your offspring;

11 Agus dúirt Dia leis: “Is mé Dia Uilechumhachtach; bíodh rath ort agus go dté tú i líonmhaire. Síolróidh cine, sea agus ciníocha, uait. Áireofar fiú ríthe ar do shliocht.

11 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der allmächtige Gott; sei fruchtbar und mehre dich; Völker und Völkerhaufen sollen von dir kommen, und Könige sollen aus deinen Lenden kommen;

12 And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you; and to your seed after you I will give the land.

12 An talamh seo a thug mé d'Abrahám agus d'Íosác, tugaim duit é; agus tabharfaidh mé an talamh seo do do shliocht i do dhiaidh.”

12 und das Land, das ich Abraham und Isaak gegeben habe, will ich dir geben und will's deinem Samen nach dir geben.

13 Then God went up from him in the place where he had been talking with him.

14 And Jacob put up a pillar in the place where he had been talking with God, and put a drink offering on it, and oil.

15 And he gave to the place where God had been talking with him, the name of Beth-el.

15 Thug Iacób dá réir sin Béitéil ar an áit inar labhair Dia leis.

16 So they went on from Beth-el; and while they were still some distance from Ephrath, the pains of birth came on Rachel and she had a hard time.

16 Ils partirent de Béthel; et il y avait encore une certaine distance jusqu'à Éphrata, lorsque Rachel accoucha. Elle eut un accouchement pénible;

16 D'fhágadar Béitéil agus nuair a bhíodar tamall fós ó Eafrát, tháinig ionú Ráchael, agus bhí pianta diana linbh uirthi.

17 And when her pain was very great, the woman who was helping her said, Have no fear; for now you will have another son.

17 Agus sna híona crua di dúirt an bhean ghlún léi: “Ná bíodh eagla ort, mar tá mac eile anseo agat.”

18 And in the hour when her life went from her (for death came to her), she gave the child the name Ben-oni: but his father gave him the name of Benjamin.

19 So Rachel came to her end and was put to rest on the road to Ephrath (which is Beth-lehem).

19 Fuair Ráchael bás mar sin agus adhlacadh í ar an mbealach go hEafrát, is é sin Beithil.

20 And Jacob put up a pillar on her resting-place; which is named, The Pillar of the resting-place of Rachel, to this day.

21 And Israel went journeying on and put up his tents on the other side of the tower of the flock.

22 Now while they were living in that country, Reuben had connection with Bilhah, his father's servant-woman: and Israel had news of it.

23 Now Jacob had twelve sons: the sons of Leah: Reuben, Jacob's first son, and Simeon and Levi and Judah and Issachar and Zebulun;

23 Fils de Léa: Ruben, premier-né de Jacob, Siméon, Lévi, Juda, Issacar et Zabulon.

23 Dáréag mac a bhí ag Iacób.

23 Die Söhne Leas waren diese: Ruben, der erstgeborene Sohn Jakobs, Simeon, Levi, Juda, Isaschar und Sebulon;

24 The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin;

24 Fils de Rachel: Joseph et Benjamin.

24 Clann Ráchael: Iósaef agus Biniáimin.

24 Los hijos de Rachêl: José, y Benjamín.

24 die Söhne Rahel waren: Joseph und Benjamin;

25 The sons of Bilhah, Rachel's servant: Dan and Naphtali;

25 die Söhne Bilhas, Rahels Magd: Dan und Naphthali;

26 The sons of Zilpah, Leah's servant: Gad and Asher; these are the sons whom Jacob had in Paddan-aram.

Sin iad an chlann mhac a rugadh do Iacób i bPadan Arám.

27 And Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, at Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac had been living.

27 Shroich Iacób teach a athar Íosác i Mamrae, Ciriat Arba is é sin nó Heabrón, mar ar lonnaigh Abrahám agus Íosác.

28 And Isaac was a hundred and eighty years old.

29 Then Isaac came to his end and was put to rest with his father's people, an old man after a long life: and Jacob and Esau, his sons, put him in his last resting-place.

29 nuair a shíothlaigh sé. Fuair sé bás agus cruinníodh chun a mhuintire é, agus é anonn sna blianta agus a ré caite. Rinne a bheirt mhac, Iacób agus Éasau, é a adhlacadh.
