1 Then Jacob went on his journey till he came to the land of the children of the East.
1 Jacob se mit en marche, et s'en alla au pays des fils de l'Orient.

1 Y Siguio Jacob su camino, y fué á la tierra de los orientales.
1 Da hob Jakob seine Füße auf und ging in das Land, das gegen Morgen liegt,
2 And there he saw a water-hole in a field, and by the side of it three flocks of sheep, for there they got water for the sheep: and on the mouth of the water-hole there was a great stone.
2 Il regarda. Et voici, il y avait un puits dans les champs; et voici, il y avait à côté trois troupeaux de brebis qui se reposaient, car c'était à ce puits qu'on abreuvait les troupeaux. Et la pierre sur l'ouverture du puits était grande.
2 D'fhéach sé agus ba shiúd tobar sna bánta agus trí thréad caorach ina luí lena ais, mar ba as an tobar sin a thugtaí uisce do na caoirigh. Cloch mhór a ba ea í siúd a bhí ar bhéal an tobair.
2 Y miró, y vió un pozo en el campo: y he aquí tres rebaños de ovejas que yacían cerca de él; porque de aquel pozo abrevaban los ganados: y había una gran piedra sobre la boca del pozo.
2 und sah sich um, und siehe, da war ein Brunnen auf dem Felde, und siehe, drei Herden Schafe lagen dabei; denn von dem Brunnen pflegten sie die Herden zu tränken, und ein großer Stein lag vor dem Loch des Brunnens.
3 And all the flocks would come together there, and when the stone had been rolled away, they would give the sheep water, and put the stone back again in its place on the mouth of the water-hole.
3 Tous les troupeaux se rassemblaient là; on roulait la pierre de dessus l'ouverture du puits, on abreuvait les troupeaux, et l'on remettait la pierre à sa place sur l'ouverture du puits.
3 Chruinnítí na tréada go léir ansiúd agus bhaintí an chloch de bhéal an tobair chun deoch a thabhairt do na caoirigh; ansin chuirtí an chloch ar ais ina háit ar bhéal an tobair.
3 Y juntábanse allí todos los rebaños; y revolvían la piedra de sobre la boca del pozo, y abrevaban las ovejas; y volvían la piedra sobre la boca del pozo á su lugar.
3 Und sie pflegten die Herden alle daselbst zu versammeln und den Stein von dem Brunnenloch zu wälzen und die Schafe zu tränken und taten alsdann den Stein wieder vor das Loch an seine Stätte.
4 Then Jacob said to the herdmen, My brothers, where do you come from? And they said, From Haran.
4 Jacob dit aux bergers: Mes frères, d'où êtes-vous? Ils répondirent: Nous sommes de Charan.
4 Dúirt Iacób leis na haoirí: “A bhráithre, cad as daoibh?” “As Hárán dúinn,” ar siad.
4 Y díjoles Jacob: Hermanos míos, ¿de dónde sois? Y ellos respondieron: De Harán somos.
4 Und Jakob sprach zu ihnen: Liebe Brüder, wo seid ihr her? Sie antworteten: Wir sind von Haran.
5 And he said to them, Have you any knowledge of Laban, the son of Nahor? And they said, We have.
5 Il leur dit: Connaissez-vous Laban, fils de Nachor? Ils répondirent: Nous le connaissons.
5 Chuir sé ceist orthu ansin: “An bhfuil aithne agaibh ar Lábán, mac Náchór?” “Tá aithne againn air,” ar siad.
5 Y él les dijo: ¿Conocéis á Labán, hijo de Nachôr? Y ellos dijeron: Sí, le conocemos.
5 Er sprach zu ihnen: Kennt ihr auch Laban, den Sohn Nahors? Sie antworteten: Wir kennen ihn wohl.
6 And he said to them, Is he well? And they said, He is well, and here is Rachel his daughter coming with the sheep.
6 Il leur dit: Est-il en bonne santé? Ils répondirent: Il est en bonne santé; et voici Rachel, sa fille, qui vient avec le troupeau.
6 “An bhfuil an scéal go maith aige?” ar sé leo. “Tá,” ar siad, “agus sin í a iníon Ráchael ag teacht leis na caoirigh.”
6 Y él les dijo: ¿Tiene paz? Y ellos dijeron: Paz; y he aquí Rachêl su hija viene con el ganado.
6 Er sprach: Geht es ihm auch wohl? Sie antworteten: Es geht ihm wohl; und siehe, da kommt seine Tochter Rahel mit den Schafen.
7 Then Jacob said, The sun is still high and it is not time to get the cattle together: get water for the sheep and go and give them their food.
7 Il dit: Voici, il est encore grand jour, et il n'est pas temps de rassembler les troupeaux; abreuvez les brebis, puis allez, et faites-les paître.
7 Dúirt sé leo: “Tá sé fós ina lá mór maith; níl sé in am na tréada a sheoladh isteach; tugaigí uisce do na caoirigh, agus seolaigí amach chun féaraigh arís iad.”
7 Y él dijo: He aquí el día es aún grande; no es tiempo todavía de recoger el ganado; abrevad las ovejas, é id á apacentarlas.
7 Er sprach: Es ist noch hoher Tag und ist noch nicht Zeit das Vieh einzutreiben; tränkt doch die Schafe und geht hin und weidet sie.
8 And they said, We are not able to do so till all the flocks have come together and the stone has been rolled away from the mouth of the water-hole; then we will get water for the sheep.
8 Ils répondirent: Nous ne le pouvons pas, jusqu'à ce que tous les troupeaux soient rassemblés; c'est alors qu'on roule la pierre de dessus l'ouverture du puits, et qu'on abreuve les brebis.
8 “Ní féidir dúinn é,” ar siad, “go dtí go gcruinnítear na tréada go léir agus go mbaintear an chloch de bhéal an tobair; ansin tabharfaimid deoch do na caoirigh.”
8 Y ellos respondieron: No podemos, hasta que se junten todos los ganados, y remuevan la piedra de sobre la boca del pozo, para que abrevemos las ovejas.
8 Sie antworteten: Wir können nicht, bis daß alle Herden zusammengebracht werden und wir den Stein von des Brunnens Loch wälzen und also die Schafe tränken.
9 While he was still talking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she took care of them.
9 Comme il leur parlait encore, survint Rachel avec le troupeau de son père; car elle était bergère.
9 Le linn dó a bheith ag caint leo, seo chucu Ráchael le caoirigh a hathar, mar is í ba aoire orthu.
9 Estando aún él hablando con ellos Rachêl vino con el ganado de su padre, porque ella era la pastora.
9 Als er noch mit ihnen redete, kam Rahel mit den Schafen ihres Vaters; denn sie hütete die Schafe.
10 Then when Jacob saw Rachel, the daughter of Laban, his mother's brother, coming with Laban's sheep, he came near, and rolling the stone away from the mouth of the hole, he got water for Laban's flock.
10 Lorsque Jacob vit Rachel, fille de Laban, frère de sa mère, et le troupeau de Laban, frère de sa mère, il s'approcha, roula la pierre de dessus l'ouverture du puits, et abreuva le troupeau de Laban, frère de sa mère.
10 A luaithe a chonaic Iacób Ráchael iníon Lábán, deartháir a mháthar, agus caoirigh Lábán, deartháir a mháthar, chuaigh sé suas agus bhain an chloch de bhéal an tobair agus thug uisce do thréad Lábán deartháir a mháthar.
10 Y sucedió que, como Jacob vió á Rachêl, hija de Labán hermano de su madre, y á las ovejas de Labán, el hermano de su madre, llegóse Jacob, y removió la piedra de sobre la boca del pozo, y abrevó el ganado de Labán hermano de su madre.
10 Da aber Jakob sah Rahel, die Tochter Labans, des Bruders seiner Mutter, und die Schafe Labans, des Bruders seiner Mutter, trat er hinzu und wälzte den Stein von dem Loch des Brunnens und tränkte die Schafe Labans, des Bruders seiner Mutter.
11 And weeping for joy, Jacob gave Rachel a kiss.
11 Et Jacob baisa Rachel, il éleva la voix et pleura.
11 Ansin phóg Iacób Ráchael agus bhris a ghol air.
11 Y Jacob besó á Rachêl, y alzó su voz, y lloró.
11 Und er küßte Rahel und weinte laut
12 And Rachel, hearing from Jacob that he was her father's relation and that he was the son of Rebekah, went running to give her father news of it.
12 Jacob apprit à Rachel qu'il était parent de son père, qu'il était fils de Rebecca. Et elle courut l'annoncer à son père.
12 D'inis sé do Ráchael gurbh é bráthair a hathar é, agus mac Ribeacá. Rith sí léi á insint sin dá hathair.
12 Y Jacob dijo á Rachêl como él era hermano de su padre, y como era hijo de Rebeca: y ella corrió, y dió las nuevas á su padre.
12 und sagte ihr an, daß er ihres Vaters Bruder wäre und Rebekkas Sohn. Da lief sie und sagte es ihrem Vater an.
13 And Laban, hearing news of Jacob, his sister's son, came running, and took Jacob in his arms, and kissing him, made him come into his house. And Jacob gave him news of everything.
13 Dès que Laban eut entendu parler de Jacob, fils de sa soeur, il courut au-devant de lui, il l'embrassa et le baisa, et il le fit venir dans sa maison. Jacob raconta à Laban toutes ces choses.
13 Nuair a chuala Lábán an scéala faoi Iacób, mac a dheirféar, rith sé chuige, rug barróg air, phóg go dil díocra é agus thug leis abhaile é. D'inis Iacób dó gach ar tharla.
13 Y así que oyó Labán las nuevas de Jacob, hijo de su hermana, corrió á recibirlo, y abrazólo, y besólo, y trájole á su casa: y él contó á Labán todas estas cosas.
13 Da aber Laban hörte von Jakob, seiner Schwester Sohn, lief er ihm entgegen und herzte und küßte ihn und führte ihn in sein Haus. Da erzählte er dem Laban alle diese Sachen.
14 And Laban said to him, Truly, you are my bone and my flesh. And he kept Jacob with him for the space of a month.
14 Et Laban lui dit: Certainement, tu es mon os et ma chair. Jacob demeura un mois chez Laban.
14 Dúirt Lábán leis: “Is tú mo chnámh agus m'fheoil féin, is tú sin!” Agus d'fhan sé mí in éineacht leis. Dhá Phósadh Iacóib
14 Y Labán le dijo: Ciertamente hueso mío y carne mía eres. Y estuvo con él el tiempo de un mes.
14 Da sprach Laban zu ihm: Wohlan, du bist mein Bein und mein Fleisch. Und da er einen Monat lang bei ihm gewesen war,
15 Then Laban said to Jacob, Because you are my brother are you to be my servant for nothing? say now, what is your payment to be?
15 Puis Laban dit à Jacob: Parce que tu es mon parent, me serviras-tu pour rien? Dis-moi quel sera ton salaire.
15 Ansin dúirt Lábán le Iacób: “An amhlaidh a chaithfidh tú fónamh domsa in aisce ós tú mo bhráthair? Inis dom cén tuarastal atá uait.”
15 Entonces dijo Labán á Jacob: ¿Por ser tú mi hermano, me has de servir de balde? declárame qué será tu salario.
15 sprach Laban zu Jakob: Wiewohl du mein Bruder bist, solltest du mir darum umsonst dienen? Sage an, was soll dein Lohn sein?
16 Now Laban had two daughters: the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
16 Or, Laban avait deux filles: l'aînée s'appelait Léa, et la cadette Rachel.
16 Bhí beirt iníon ag Lábán; Léá a ba ainm don té ba shine agus Ráchael a ba ainm don té a ba óige.
16 Y Labán tenía dos hijas: el nombre de la mayor era Lea, y el nombre de la menor, Rachêl.
16 Laban aber hatte zwei Töchter; die ältere hieß Lea und die jüngere Rahel.
17 And Leah's eyes were clouded, but Rachel was fair in face and form.
17 Léa avait les yeux délicats; mais Rachel était belle de taille et belle de figure.
17 Ní raibh aon phreab i súile Léá, ach bhí Ráchael sciamhach dealraitheach,
17 Y los ojos de Lea eran tiernos, pero Rachêl era de lindo semblante y de hermoso parecer.
17 Aber Lea hatte ein blödes Gesicht, Rahel war hübsch und schön.
18 And Jacob was in love with Rachel; and he said, I will be your servant seven years for Rachel, your younger daughter.
18 Jacob aimait Rachel, et il dit: Je te servirai sept ans pour Rachel, ta fille cadette.
18 agus bhí Iacób tite i ngrá le Ráchael. D'fhreagair sé: “Oibreoidh mé duit ar feadh seacht mbliana ar son Ráchael an iníon is óige agat.”
18 Y Jacob amó á Rachêl, y dijo: Yo te serviré siete años por Rachêl tu hija menor.
18 Und Jakob gewann die Rahel lieb und sprach: Ich will dir sieben Jahre um Rahel, deine jüngere Tochter, dienen.
19 And Laban said, It is better for you to have her than another man: go on living here with me.
19 Et Laban dit: J'aime mieux te la donner que de la donner à un autre homme. Reste chez moi!
19 “Is fearr dom í a thabhairt duitse ná do dhuine deoranta,” arsa Lábán. “Fan faram.”
19 Y Labán respondió: Mejor es que te la dé á ti, que no que la dé á otro hombre: estáte conmigo.
19 Laban antwortete: Es ist besser, ich gebe sie dir als einem andern; bleibe bei mir.
20 And Jacob did seven years' work for Rachel; and because of his love for her it seemed to him only a very little time.
20 Ainsi Jacob servit sept années pour Rachel: et elles furent à ses yeux comme quelques jours, parce qu'il l'aimait.
20 Rinne Iacób seirbhís ar feadh seacht mbliana ar son Ráchael, ach ba gheall le cúpla lá an aimsir sin dar leis le barr a ghrá do Ráchael.
20 Así sirvió Jacob por Rachêl siete años: y pareciéronle como pocos días, porque la amaba.
20 Also diente Jakob um Rahel sieben Jahre, und sie deuchten ihn, als wären's einzelne Tage, so lieb hatte er sie.
21 Then Jacob said to Laban, Give me my wife so that I may have her, for the days are ended.
21 Ensuite Jacob dit à Laban: Donne-moi ma femme, car mon temps est accompli: et j'irai vers elle.
21 Ansin dúirt Iacób le Lábán: “Tabhair dom mo bhean, mar tá mo théarma caite anois agus ba mhaith liom luí léi.”
21 Y dijo Jacob á Labán: Dame mi mujer, porque mi tiempo es cumplido para que cohabite con ella.
21 Und Jakob sprach zu Laban: Gib mir nun mein Weib, denn die Zeit ist hier, daß ich zu ihr gehe.
22 And Laban got together all the men of the place and gave a feast.
22 Laban réunit tous les gens du lieu, et fit un festin.
22 Chruinnigh Lábán muintir na háite go léir le chéile agus bhí fleá mhór acu.
22 Entonces Labán juntó á todos los varones de aquel lugar, é hizo banquete.
22 Da lud Laban alle Leute des Orts und machte ein Hochzeitsmahl.
23 And in the evening he took Leah, his daughter, and gave her to him, and he went in to her.
23 Le soir, il prit Léa, sa fille, et l'amena vers Jacob, qui s'approcha d'elle.
23 Le titim na hoíche fuair sé a iníon Léá agus thug chun Iacóib í agus luigh seisean léi.
23 Y sucedió que á la noche tomó á Lea su hija, y se la trajo: y él entró á ella.
23 Des Abends aber nahm er seine Tochter Lea und brachte sie zu ihm; und er ging zu ihr.
24 And Laban gave Zilpah, his servant-girl, to Leah, to be her waiting-woman.
24 Et Laban donna pour servante à Léa, sa fille, Zilpa, sa servante.
24 [Thug Lábán a dhaoirseach Zilpeá mar ionailt dá iníon Léá.]
24 Y dió Labán su sierva Zilpa á su hija Lea por criada.
24 Und Laban gab seiner Tochter Lea seine Magd Silpa zur Magd.
25 And in the morning Jacob saw that it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What have you done to me? was I not working for you so that I might have Rachel? why have you been false to me?
25 Le lendemain matin, voilà que c'était Léa. Alors Jacob dit à Laban: Qu'est-ce que tu m'as fait? N'est-ce pas pour Rachel que j'ai servi chez toi? Pourquoi m'as-tu trompé?
25 Ar maidin, féach, is í Léá a bhí ann. Dúirt Iacób le Lábán: “Céard é seo atá déanta agat orm? Nach ar son Ráchael a rinne mé seirbhís duit? Cén fáth dá bhrí sin gur mheall tú mé?”
25 Y venida la mañana, he aquí que era Lea: y él dijo á Labán: ¿Qué es esto que me has hecho? ¿no te he servido por Rachêl? ¿por qué, pues, me has engañado?
25 Des Morgens aber, siehe, da war es Lea. Und er sprach zu Laban: Warum hast du mir das getan? Habe ich dir nicht um Rahel gedient? Warum hast du mich denn betrogen?
26 And Laban said, In our country we do not let the younger daughter be married before the older.
26 Laban dit: Ce n'est point la coutume dans ce lieu de donner la cadette avant l'aînée.
26 D'fhreagair Lábán: “An sóisear a thabhairt le pósadh, roimh an sinsear, sin beart nach gnáth a dhéanamh sa tír seo.
26 Y Labán respondió: No se hace así en nuestro lugar, que se dé la menor antes de la mayor.
26 Laban antwortete: Es ist nicht Sitte in unserm lande, daß man die jüngere ausgebe vor der älteren.
27 Let the week of the bride-feast come to its end and then we will give you the other in addition, if you will be my servant for another seven years.
27 Achève la semaine avec celle-ci, et nous te donnerons aussi l'autre pour le service que tu feras encore chez moi pendant sept nouvelles années.
27 Críochnaigh seachtain seo na bainise, agus tabharfaidh mé duit an ceann eile chomh maith ar son seirbhís a dhéanamh dom ar feadh seacht mbliana eile.”
27 Cumple la semana de ésta, y se te dará también la otra, por el servicio que hicieres conmigo otros siete años.
27 Halte mit dieser die Woche aus, so will ich dir diese auch geben um den Dienst, den du bei mir noch andere sieben Jahre dienen sollst.
28 And Jacob did so; and when the week was ended, Laban gave him his daughter Rachel for his wife.
28 Jacob fit ainsi, et il acheva la semaine avec Léa; puis Laban lui donna pour femme Rachel, sa fille.
28 Rinne Iacób rud air agus chríochnaigh sé an tseachtain agus thug Lábán a iníon Ráchael dó mar bhean.
28 E hizo Jacob así, y cumplió la semana de aquélla: y él le dió á Rachêl su hija por mujer.
28 Jakob tat also und hielt die Woche aus. Da gab ihm Laban Rahel, seine Tochter, zum Weibe
29 And Laban gave Rachel his servant-girl Bilhah to be her waiting-woman.
29 Et Laban donna pour servante à Rachel, sa fille, Bilha, sa servante.
29 Thug Lábán a dhaoirseach Bileá mar ionailt dá iníon Ráchael.
29 Y dió Labán á Rachêl su hija por criada á su sierva Bilha.
29 und gab seiner Tochter Rahel seine Magd Bilha zur Magd.
30 Then Jacob took Rachel as his wife, and his love for her was greater than his love for Leah; and he went on working for Laban for another seven years.
30 Jacob alla aussi vers Rachel, qu'il aimait plus que Léa; et il servit encore chez Laban pendant sept nouvelles années.

30 Y entró también á Rachêl: y amóla también más que á Lea: y sirvió con él aún otros siete años.
30 Also ging er auch zu Rahel ein, und hatte Rahel lieber als Lea; und diente bei ihm fürder die andern sieben Jahre.
31 Now the Lord, seeing that Leah was not loved, gave her a child; while Rachel had no children.
31 L'Éternel vit que Léa n'était pas aimée; et il la rendit féconde, tandis que Rachel était stérile.
31 Chonaic an Tiarna go raibh faillí á déanamh ar Léá, agus d'oscail sé a broinn, ach d'fhan Ráchael aimrid.
31 Y vió Jehová que Lea era aborrecida, y abrió su matriz; pero Rachêl era estéril.
31 Da aber der HERR sah, daß Lea unwert war, machte er sie fruchtbar; Rahel aber war unfruchtbar.
32 And Leah was with child, and gave birth to a son to whom she gave the name Reuben: for she said, The Lord has seen my sorrow; now my husband will have love for me.
32 Léa devint enceinte, et enfanta un fils, à qui elle donna le nom de Ruben; car elle dit: L'Éternel a vu mon humiliation, et maintenant mon mari m'aimera.
32 Ghabh Léá gin agus rug sí mac agus thug sí Reúbaen mar ainm air, “Mar,” a dúirt sí, “d'fhéach an Tiarna ar mo léan, agus beidh grá ag m'fhear dom anois.”
32 Y concibió Lea, y parió un hijo, y llamó su nombre Rubén, porque dijo: Ya que ha mirado Jehová mi aflicción; ahora por tanto me amará mi marido.
32 Und Lea ward schwanger und gebar einen Sohn; den hieß sie Ruben, und sprach: Der HERR hat angesehen mein Elend; nun wird mich mein Mann liebhaben.
33 Then she became with child again, and gave birth to a son; and said, Because it has come to the Lord's ears that I am not loved, he has given me this son in addition: and she gave him the name Simeon.
33 Elle devint encore enceinte, et enfanta un fils, et elle dit: L'Éternel a entendu que je n'étais pas aimée, et il m'a aussi accordé celui-ci. Et elle lui donna le nom de Siméon.
33 Agus ghabh sí gin arís agus rug sí mac á rá: “Chuala an Tiarna go raibh faillí á déanamh orm, agus thug sé an mac seo dom chomh maith”; agus thug sí Simeon air.
33 Y concibió otra vez, y parió un hijo, y dijo: Por cuanto oyó Jehová que yo era aborrecida, me ha dado también éste. Y llamó su nombre Simeón.
33 Und ward abermals schwanger und gebar einen Sohn und sprach: Der HERR hat gehört, daß ich unwert bin, und hat mir diesen auch gegeben. Und sie hieß ihn Simeon.
34 And she was with child again, and gave birth to a son; and said, Now at last my husband will be united to me, because I have given him three sons: so he was named Levi.
34 Elle devint encore enceinte, et enfanta un fils, et elle dit: Pour cette fois, mon mari s'attachera à moi; car je lui ai enfanté trois fils. C'est pourquoi on lui donna le nom de Lévi.
34 Ghabh sí gin arís agus rug sí mac, á rá: “Ós rud é gur rug mé triúr mac dó, aontófar m'fhear liom an uair seo”; thug sí Léiví dá réir sin mar ainm air.
34 Y concibió otra vez, y parió un hijo, y dijo: Ahora esta vez se unirá mi marido conmigo, porque le he parido tres hijos: por tanto, llamó su nombre Leví.
34 Abermals ward sie schwanger und gebar einen Sohn und sprach: Nun wird mein Mann mir doch zugetan sein, denn ich habe ihm drei Söhne geboren. Darum hieß sie ihn Levi.
35 And she was with child again, and gave birth to a son: and she said, This time I will give praise to the Lord: so he was named Judah; after this she had no more children for a time.
35 Elle devint encore enceinte, et enfanta un fils, et elle dit: Cette fois, je louerai l'Éternel. C'est pourquoi elle lui donna le nom de Juda. Et elle cessa d'enfanter.
