1 Now Abraham was old and far on in years: and the Lord had given him everything in full measure.
1 Abraham était vieux, avancé en âge; et l'Éternel avait béni Abraham en toute chose.

1 Y Abraham era viejo, y bien entrado en días; y Jehová había bendecido á Abraham en todo.
1 Abraham ward alt und wohl betagt, und der HERR hatte ihn gesegnet allenthalben.
2 And Abraham said to his chief servant, the manager of all his property, Come now, put your hand under my leg:
2 Abraham dit à son serviteur, le plus ancien de sa maison, l'intendant de tous ses biens: Mets, je te prie, ta main sous ma cuisse;
2 Dúirt Abrahám leis an sinsear ar shearbhóntaí a theaghlaigh, an té a bhí i bhfeighil a raibh de mhaoin aige: “Cuir do lámh faoi mo cheathrú
2 Y dijo Abraham á un criado suyo, el más viejo de su casa, que era el que gobernaba en todo lo que tenía: Pon ahora tu mano debajo de mi muslo,
2 Und er sprach zu dem ältesten Knecht seines Hauses, der allen seinen Gütern vorstand: Lege deine Hand unter meine Hüfte
3 And take an oath by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not get a wife for my son Isaac from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I am living;
3 et je te ferai jurer par l'Éternel, le Dieu du ciel et le Dieu de la terre, de ne pas prendre pour mon fils une femme parmi les filles des Cananéens au milieu desquels j'habite,
3 agus cuirfidh mé faoi bhrí na mionn thú, dar an Tiarna, Dia neimhe agus talún, gan bean a fháil do mo mhac ó iníonacha na gCanánach a bhfuil cónaí orm ina measc
3 Y te juramentaré por Jehová, Dios de los cielos y Dios de la tierra, que no has de tomar mujer para mi hijo de las hijas de los Cananeos, entre los cuales yo habito;
3 und schwöre mir bei dem HERRN, dem Gott des Himmels und der Erde, daß du meinem Sohn kein Weib nehmest von den Töchtern der Kanaaniter, unter welchen ich wohne,
4 But that you will go into my country and to my relations and get a wife there for my son Isaac.
4 mais d'aller dans mon pays et dans ma patrie prendre une femme pour mon fils Isaac.
4 ach, ina ionad sin, dul ag triall ar mo thír dhúchais agus ar mo mhuintir féin chun bean a fháil do mo mhac Íosác.”
4 Sino que irás á mi tierra y á mi parentela, y tomarás mujer para mi hijo Isaac.
4 sondern daß du ziehst in mein Vaterland und zu meiner Freundschaft und nehmest meinem Sohn Isaak ein Weib.
5 And the servant said, If by chance the woman will not come with me into this land, am I to take your son back again to the land from which you came?
5 Le serviteur lui répondit: Peut-être la femme ne voudra-t-elle pas me suivre dans ce pays-ci; devrai-je mener ton fils dans le pays d'où tu es sorti?
5 D'fhreagair an searbhónta é: “B'fhéidir nárbh áil leis an mbean teacht liom chun na dúiche seo; ansin cad a dhéanfainn? An gcaithfinn ansin do mhac a bhreith ar ais chun na tíre as ar tháinig tú?”
5 Y el criado le respondió: Quizá la mujer no querrá venir en pos de mí á esta tierra: ¿volveré, pues, tu hijo á la tierra de donde saliste?
5 Der Knecht sprach: Wie, wenn das Weib mir nicht wollte folgen in dies Land, soll ich dann deinen Sohn wiederbringen in jenes Land, daraus du gezogen bist?
6 And Abraham said, Take care that you do not let my son go back to that land.
6 Abraham lui dit: Garde-toi d'y mener mon fils!
6 “Ná beir mo mhac ansiúd ar ais ar aon chúinse, féach!” arsa Abrahám.
6 Y Abraham le dijo: Guárdate que no vuelvas á mi hijo allá.
6 Abraham sprach zu ihm: Davor hüte dich, daß du meinen Sohn nicht wieder dahin bringst.
7 The Lord God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my birth, and made an oath to me, saying, To your seed I will give this land: he will send his angel before you and give you a wife for my son in that land.
7 L'Éternel, le Dieu du ciel, qui m'a fait sortir de la maison de mon père et de ma patrie, qui m'a parlé et qui m'a juré, en disant: Je donnerai ce pays à ta postérité, lui-même enverra son ange devant toi; et c'est de là que tu prendras une femme pour mon fils.
7 “An Tiarna, Dia neimhe [agus talún], thug sé mise amach ó theach m'athar agus ó thír mo chine, agus mhionnaigh dom á rá: ‘Do do shíolsa a thabharfaidh mé an tír seo’; seolfaidh seisean a aingeal romhat amach agus gheobhaidh tú bean do mo mhac sa tír sin.
7 Jehová, Dios de los cielos, que me tomó de la casa de mi padre y de la tierra de mi parentela, y me habló y me juró, diciendo: A tu simiente daré esta tierra; él enviará su ángel delante de ti, y tú tomarás de allá mujer para mi hijo.
7 Der HERR, der Gott des Himmels, der mich von meines Vaters Hause genommen hat und von meiner Heimat, der mir geredet hat und mir auch geschworen hat und gesagt: Dies Land will ich deinem Samen geben, der wird seine Engel vor dir her senden, daß du meinem Sohn daselbst ein Weib nehmest.
8 And if the woman will not come with you, then you are free from this oath; only do not take my son back there.
8 Si la femme ne veut pas te suivre, tu seras dégagé de ce serment que je te fais faire. Seulement, tu n'y mèneras pas mon fils.
8 Muran toil leis an mbean tú a leanúint, beidh tú saor ón mionn seo liomsa; ach ná beir mo mhac leat ar ais ansiúd.”
8 Y si la mujer no quisiere venir en pos de ti, serás libre de este mi juramento; solamente que no vuelvas allá á mi hijo.
8 So aber das Weib dir nicht folgen will, so bist du dieses Eides quitt. Allein bringe meinen Sohn nicht wieder dorthin.
9 And the servant put his hand under Abraham's leg, and gave him his oath about this thing.
9 Le serviteur mit sa main sous la cuisse d'Abraham, son seigneur, et lui jura d'observer ces choses.
9 Chuir an searbhónta a lámh faoi cheathrú Abrahám, a thiarna, dá bhrí sin agus thug sé mionn dó go ndéanfadh sé an méid sin.
9 Entonces el criado puso su mano debajo del muslo de Abraham su señor, y juróle sobre este negocio.
9 Da legte der Knecht seine Hand unter die Hüfte Abrahams, seines Herrn, und schwur ihm solches.
10 And the servant took ten of his master's camels, and all sorts of good things of his master's, and went to Mesopotamia, to the town of Nahor.
10 Le serviteur prit dix chameaux parmi les chameaux de son seigneur, et il partit, ayant à sa disposition tous les biens de son seigneur. Il se leva, et alla en Mésopotamie, à la ville de Nachor.
10 Rug an searbhónta deich gcinn de chamaill a mháistir leis agus a rogha de gach sórt de thogha maoine a mháistir agus chuir sé chun bóthair i dtreo Arám na nAibhneacha, go cathair Náchór.
10 Y el criado tomó diez camellos de los camellos de su señor, y fuése, pues tenía á su disposición todos los bienes de su señor: y puesto en camino, llegó á Mesopotamia, á la ciudad de Nachôr.
10 Also nahm der Knecht zehn Kamele von den Kamelen seines Herrn und zog hin und hatte mit sich allerlei Güter seines Herrn und machte sich auf und zog nach Mesopotamien zu der Stadt Nahors.
11 And he made the camels take their rest outside the town by the water-spring in the evening, at the time when the women came to get water.
11 Il fit reposer les chameaux sur leurs genoux hors de la ville, près d'un puits, au temps du soir, au temps où sortent celles qui vont puiser de l'eau.
11 Um tráthnóna, faoin am go dtagann na mná amach ag triall ar uisce, chuir sé na camaill ina luí ar a nglúine ag an tobar fíoruisce lasmuigh den chathair.
11 E hizo arrodillar los camellos fuera de la ciudad, junto á un pozo de agua, á la hora de la tarde, á la hora en que salen las mozas por agua.
11 Da ließ er die Kamele sich lagern draußen vor der Stadt bei einem Wasserbrunnen, des Abends um die Zeit, wo die Weiber pflegten herauszugehen und Wasser zu schöpfen,
12 And he said, O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, let me do well in what I have undertaken this day, and give your mercy to my master Abraham.
12 Et il dit: Éternel, Dieu de mon seigneur Abraham, fais-moi, je te prie, rencontrer aujourd'hui ce que je désire, et use de bonté envers mon seigneur Abraham!
12 Agus dúirt sé: “A Thiarna, a Dhia mo mháistir Abrahám, bí faram inniu, iarraim ort, agus bí cineálta le mo mháistir Abrahám.
12 Y dijo: Jehová, Dios de mi señor Abraham, dame, te ruego, el tener hoy buen encuentro, y haz misericordia con mi señor Abraham.
12 und sprach: HERR, du Gott meines Herrn Abraham, begegne mir heute und tue Barmherzigkeit an meinem Herrn Abraham!
13 See, I am waiting here by the water-spring; and the daughters of the town are coming out to get water:
13 Voici, je me tiens près de la source d'eau, et les filles des gens de la ville vont sortir pour puiser l'eau.
13 Seo i mo sheasamh anseo mé láimh leis an tobar fíoruisce agus iníonacha mhuintir na cathrach ag teacht amach ag triall ar uisce.
13 He aquí yo estoy junto á la fuente de agua, y las hijas de los varones de esta ciudad salen por agua:
13 Siehe, ich stehe hier bei dem Wasserbrunnen, und der Leute Töchter in dieser Stadt werden herauskommen, Wasser zu schöpfen.
14 Now, may the girl to whom I say, Let down your vessel and give me a drink, and who says in answer, Here is a drink for you and let me give water to your camels: may she be the one marked out by you for your servant Isaac: so may I be certain that you have been good to my master Abraham.
14 Que la jeune fille à laquelle je dirai: Penche ta cruche, je te prie, pour que je boive, et qui répondra: Bois, et je donnerai aussi à boire à tes chameaux, soit celle que tu as destinée à ton serviteur Isaac! Et par là je connaîtrai que tu uses de bonté envers mon seigneur.
14 An cailín a ndéarfaidh mé léi dá bhrí sin: ‘Leag do chrúsca ar an talamh agus lig dom deoch a ól,’ agus a fhreagróidh: ‘Bíodh deoch agat, agus tabharfaidh mé deoch do do chamaill chomh maith,’ go mba ise, guím thú, an bhean atá roghnaithe agat do do shearbhónta Íosác. Uaidh seo beidh a fhios agam go bhfuil tú cineálta le mo mháistir Abrahám.”
14 Sea, pues, que la moza á quien yo dijere: Baja tu cántaro, te ruego, para que yo beba; y ella respondiere: Bebe, y también daré de beber á tus camellos: que sea ésta la que tú has destinado para tu siervo Isaac; y en esto conoceré que habrás hecho misericordia con mi señor.
14 Wenn nun eine Dirne kommt, zu der ich spreche: Neige deinen Krug, und laß mich trinken, und sie sprechen wird: Trinke, ich will deine Kamele auch tränken: das sei die, die du deinem Diener Isaak beschert hast, und daran werde ich erkennen, daß du Barmherzigkeit an meinem Herrn getan habest.
15 And even before his words were ended, Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Milcah, who was the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, came out with her water-vessel on her arm.
15 Il n'avait pas encore fini de parler que sortit, sa cruche sur l'épaule, Rebecca, née de Bethuel, fils de Milca, femme de Nachor, frère d'Abraham.
15 Is ar éigean a bhí na focail sin ráite aige nuair a tháinig Ribeacá amach agus crúsca ar a gualainn aici. Ba í iníon Bhatúél mac Mhilceá bean dheartháir Abrahám, Náchór.
15 Y aconteció que antes que él acabase de hablar, he aquí Rebeca, que había nacido á Bethuel, hijo de Milca, mujer de Nachôr hermano de Abraham, la cual salía con su cántaro sobre su hombro.
15 Und ehe er ausgeredet hatte, siehe, da kam heraus Rebekka, Bethuels Tochter, der ein Sohn der Milka war, welche Nahors, Abrahams Bruders, Weib war, und trug einen Krug auf ihrer Achsel.
16 She was a very beautiful girl, a virgin, who had never been touched by a man: and she went down to the spring to get water in her vessel.
16 C'était une jeune fille très belle de figure; elle était vierge, et aucun homme ne l'avait connue. Elle descendit à la source, remplit sa cruche, et remonta.
16 Ógbhean le barr sceimhe a ba ea í agus maighdean nach raibh cuid ag fear di. Chuaigh sí síos chun an tobair, líon a crúsca agus tháinig aníos.
16 Y la moza era de muy hermoso aspecto, virgen, á la que varón no había conocido; la cual descendió á la fuente, y llenó su cántaro, y se volvía.
16 Und sie war eine sehr schöne Dirne von Angesicht, noch eine Jungfrau, und kein Mann hatte sie erkannt. Die stieg hinab zum Brunnen und füllte den Krug und stieg herauf.
17 And the servant came running to her and said, Give me a little water from your vessel.
17 Le serviteur courut au-devant d'elle, et dit: Laisse-moi boire, je te prie, un peu d'eau de ta cruche.
17 Rith an searbhónta ina treo ansin agus dúirt: “Tabhair dom deoch bheag uisce as do chrúsca le do thoil.”
17 Entonces el criado corrió hacia ella, y dijo: Ruégote que me des á beber un poco de agua de tu cántaro.
17 Da lief ihr der Knecht entgegen und sprach: Laß mich ein wenig Wasser aus deinem Kruge trinken.
18 And she said, Take a drink, my lord: and quickly letting down her vessel onto her hand, she gave him a drink.
18 Elle répondit: Bois, mon seigneur. Et elle s'empressa d'abaisser sa cruche sur sa main, et de lui donner à boire.
18 “Bíodh deoch agat, a thiarna,” ar sí á fhreagairt agus lig sí an crúsca anuas ar a géag gan mhoill agus thug deoch dó.
18 Y ella respondió: Bebe, señor mío: y dióse prisa á bajar su cántaro sobre su mano, y le dió á beber.
18 Und sie sprach: Trinke, mein Herr! und eilend ließ sie den Krug hernieder auf ihre Hand und gab ihm zu trinken.
19 And having done so, she said, I will get water for your camels till they have had enough.
19 Quand elle eut achevé de lui donner à boire, elle dit: Je puiserai aussi pour tes chameaux, jusqu'à ce qu'ils aient assez bu.
19 Tar éis di an deoch a thabhairt do, dúirt sí: “Tarraingeoidh mé uisce do do chamaill chomh maith go n‑óla siad a sáith.”
19 Y cuando acabó de darle á beber, dijo: También para tus camellos sacaré agua, hasta que acaben de beber.
19 Und da sie ihm zu trinken gegeben hatte, sprach sie: Ich will deinen Kamelen auch schöpfen, bis sie alle getrunken haben.
20 And after putting the water from her vessel into the animals' drinking-place, she went quickly back to the spring and got water for all the camels.
20 Et elle s'empressa de vider sa cruche dans l'abreuvoir, et courut encore au puits pour puiser; et elle puisa pour tous les chameaux.
20 Scaoil sí a raibh d'uisce ina crúsca isteach san umar ansin go deifreach agus rith léi go dtí an tobar arís ag triall ar uisce, agus tharraing sí dóthain a chamall go léir.
20 Y dióse prisa, y vació su cántaro en la pila, y corrió otra vez al pozo para sacar agua, y sacó para todos sus camellos.
20 Und eilte und goß den Krug aus in die Tränke und lief abermals zum Brunnen, zu schöpfen, und schöpfte allen seinen Kamelen.
21 And the man, looking at her, said nothing, waiting to see if the Lord had given his journey a good outcome.
21 L'homme la regardait avec étonnement et sans rien dire, pour voir si l'Éternel faisait réussir son voyage, ou non.
21 Bhí sé siúd gan focal as ag faire uirthi, féachaint an raibh bail ón Tiarna ar a aistear nó nach raibh.
21 Y el hombre estaba maravillado de ella, callando, para saber si Jehová había prosperado ó no su viaje.
21 Der Mann aber wunderte sich ihrer und schwieg still, bis er erkennete, ob der HERR zu seiner Reise Gnade gegeben hätte oder nicht.
22 And when the camels had had enough, the man took a gold nose-ring, half a shekel in weight, and two ornaments for her arms of ten shekels weight of gold;
22 Quand les chameaux eurent fini de boire, l'homme prit un anneau d'or, du poids d'un demi-sicle, et deux bracelets, du poids de dix sicles d'or.
22 Nuair a bhí deireadh olta ag na camaill, rug an fear ar fháinne óir a mheáigh leathsheicil [agus chuir ar a srón é]; agus chuir dhá bhráisléad a mheáigh deich seicil óir ar a lámha.
22 Y fué que como los camellos acabaron de beber, presentóle el hombre un pendiente de oro que pesaba medio siclo, y dos brazaletes que pesaban diez:
22 Da nun die Kamele alle getrunken hatten, nahm er einen goldenen Reif, ein halbes Lot schwer, und zwei Armringe an ihre Hände, zehn Lot Goldes schwer,
23 And said to her, Whose daughter are you? is there room in your father's house for us?
23 Et il dit: De qui es-tu fille? dis-le moi, je te prie. Y a-t-il dans la maison de ton père de la place pour passer la nuit?
23 “Cé hé do athair?” ar sé. “Abair, le do thoil! Agus an bhfuil slí i dteach d'athar dúinn chun an oíche a chaitheamh ann?”
23 Y dijo: ¿De quién eres hija? Ruégote me digas, ¿hay lugar en casa de tu padre donde posemos?
23 und sprach: Wes Tochter bist du? das sage mir doch. Haben wir Raum in deines Vaters Hause, zu beherbergen?
24 And she said to him, I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Milcah, Nahor's wife.
24 Elle répondit: Je suis fille de Bethuel, fils de Milca et de Nachor.
24 D'fhreagair sí é: “Mise iníon Bhatúél, mac a rug Milceá do Náchór,” ar sí,
24 Y ella respondió: Soy hija de Bethuel, hijo de Milca, el cual parió ella á Nachôr.
24 Sie sprach zu ihm: Ich bin Bethuels Tochter, des Sohnes Milkas, den sie dem Nahor geboren hat,
25 And she said, We have a great store of dry grass and cattle-food, and there is room for you.
25 Elle lui dit encore: Il y a chez nous de la paille et du fourrage en abondance, et aussi de la place pour passer la nuit.
25 agus lean sí uirthi: “Tá raidhse tuí agus foráiste againn agus áit lóistín.”
25 Y añadió: También hay en nuestra casa paja y mucho forraje, y lugar para posar.
25 und sagte weiter zu ihm: Es ist auch viel Stroh und Futter bei uns und Raum genug, zu beherbergen.
26 And with bent head the man gave worship to the Lord;
26 Alors l'homme s'inclina et se prosterna devant l'Éternel,
26 Shléacht an fear ansin agus d'adhair sé an Tiarna
26 El hombre entonces se inclinó, y adoró á Jehová.
26 Da neigte sich der Mann und betete den HERRN an
27 And said, Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has given a sign that he is good and true to my master, by guiding me straight to the house of my master's family.
27 en disant: Béni soit l'Éternel, le Dieu de mon seigneur Abraham, qui n'a pas renoncé à sa miséricorde et à sa fidélité envers mon seigneur! Moi-même, l'Éternel m'a conduit à la maison des frères de mon seigneur.
27 á rá: “Moladh leis an Tiarna, Dia do mháistir Abrahám! óir níor stad sé ach ag déanamh cineáltais agus maitheasa do mo mháistir. Sheol an Tiarna mé caol díreach go teach ghaolta mo mháistir!”
27 Y dijo: Bendito sea Jehová, Dios de mi amo Abraham, que no apartó su misericordia y su verdad de mi amo, guiándome Jehová en el camino á casa de los hermanos de mi amo.
27 und sprach: Gelobt sei der HERR, der Gott meines Herrn Abraham, der seine Barmherzigkeit und seine Wahrheit nicht verlassen hat an meinem Herrn; denn der HERR hat mich den Weg geführt zum Hause des Bruders meines Herrn.
28 So the girl went running and took the news of these things to her mother's house
28 La jeune fille courut raconter ces choses à la maison de sa mère.
28 Rith an ógbhean léi ansin agus d'inis gach ar tharla do theaghlach a máthar.
28 Y la moza corrió, é hizo saber en casa de su madre estas cosas.
28 Und die Dirne lief und sagte solches alles an in ihrer Mutter Hause.
29 Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban, and he came out quickly to the man at the water-spring.
29 Rebecca avait un frère, nommé Laban. Et Laban courut dehors vers l'homme, près de la source.
29 Bhí deartháir ag Ribeacá arbh ainm dó Lábán, agus bhrostaigh seisean amach chun an tobair mar a raibh an fear.
29 Y Rebeca tenía un hermano que se llamaba Labán, el cual corrió afuera al hombre, á la fuente;
29 Und Rebekka hatte einen Bruder, der hieß Laban; und Laban lief zu dem Mann draußen bei dem Brunnen.
30 And when he saw the nose-ring and the ornaments on his sister's hands, and when she gave him word of what the man had said to her, then he went out to the man who was waiting with the camels by the water-spring.
30 Il avait vu l'anneau et les bracelets aux mains de sa soeur, et il avait entendu les paroles de Rebecca, sa soeur, disant: Ainsi m'a parlé l'homme. Il vint donc à cet homme qui se tenait auprès des chameaux, vers la source,
30 A luaithe a chonaic sé an fáinne agus na bráisléid a bhí á gcaitheamh ag a dheirfiúr, agus gur chuala sé a ndúirt Ribeacá a dheirfiúr: “A leithéid seo ar sé liom,” chuaigh sé go dtí an fear; agus, féach! bhí seisean ina sheasamh lena chamaill ag an tobar.
30 Y fué que como vió el pendiente y los brazaletes en las manos de su hermana, que decía, Así me habló aquel hombre; vino á él: y he aquí que estaba junto á los camellos á la fuente.
30 Und als er sah den Reif und die Armringe an seiner Schwester Händen und hörte die Worte Rebekkas, seiner Schwester, daß sie sprach: Also hat mir der Mann gesagt, kam er zu dem Mann, und siehe, er stand bei den Kamelen am Brunnen.
31 And he said to him, Come in, you on whom is the blessing of the Lord; why are you waiting outside? for I have made the house ready for you, and a place for the camels.
31 et il dit: Viens, béni de l'Éternel! Pourquoi resterais-tu dehors? J'ai préparé la maison, et une place pour les chameaux.
31 “Tar isteach,” ar sé, “tusa a bheannaigh an Tiarna; cad a ba áil leat i do sheasamh anseo amuigh? óir tá an teach i gcóir duit agus áit do do chamaill.”
31 Y díjole: Ven, bendito de Jehová; ¿por qué estás fuera? yo he limpiado la casa, y el lugar para los camellos.
31 Und er sprach: Komm herein, du Gesegneter des HERRN! Warum stehst du draußen? Ich habe das Haus geräumt und für die Kamele auch Raum gemacht.
32 Then the man came into the house, and Laban took their cords off the camels and gave them dry grass and food, and he gave to him and the men who were with him water for washing their feet.
32 L'homme arriva à la maison. Laban fit décharger les chameaux, et il donna de la paille et du fourrage aux chameaux, et de l'eau pour laver les pieds de l'homme et les pieds des gens qui étaient avec lui.
32 Chuaigh an fear isteach; scoir Lábán na camaill agus thug dó tuí agus foráiste do na camaill agus uisce chun a chosa agus cosa a chompánach a ionladh.
32 Entonces el hombre vino á casa, y Labán desató los camellos; y dióles paja y forraje, y agua para lavar los piés de él, y los piés de los hombres que con él venían.
32 Also führte er den Mann ins Haus und zäumte die Kamele ab und gab ihnen Stroh und Futter und Wasser, zu waschen seine Füße und die Füße der Männer, die mit ihm waren,
33 And meat was put before him, but he said, I will not take food till I have made my business clear to you. And they said, Do so.

37 Und mein Herr hat einen Eid von mir genommen und gesagt: Du sollst meinem Sohn kein Weib nehmen von den Töchtern der Kanaaniter, in deren Land ich wohne,
38 But go to my father's house and to my relations for a wife for my son.

40 And he said, The Lord, whom I have ever kept before me, will send his angel with you, who will make it possible for you to get a wife for my son from my relations and my father's house;

41 And you will be free from your oath to me when you come to my people; and if they will not give her to you, you will be free from your oath.

42 And I came today to the water-spring, and I said, O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, if it is your purpose to give a good outcome to my journey,

43 Let it come about that, while I am waiting here by the water-spring, if a girl comes to get water and I say to her, Give me a little water from your vessel, and she says,

44 und sie wird sagen: Trinke du, ich will deinen Kamelen auch schöpfen: die sei das Weib, das der HERR meines Herrn Sohne beschert hat.
45 And even while I was saying this to myself, Rebekah came out with her vessel on her arm; and she went down to the spring to get water; and I said to her, Give me a drink.

46 Und sie nahm eilend den Krug von ihrer Achsel und sprach: Trinke, und deine Kamele will ich auch tränken. Also trank ich, und sie tränkte die Kamele auch.
47 And questioning her, I said, Whose daughter are you? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, the son of Nahor, and Milcah his wife. Then I put the ring on her nose and the ornaments on her hands.
47 Je l'ai interrogée, et j'ai dit: De qui es-tu fille? Elle a répondu: Je suis fille de Bethuel, fils de Nachor et de Milca. J'ai mis l'anneau à son nez, et les bracelets à ses mains.

48 And with bent head I gave worship and praise to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, by whom I had been guided in the right way, to get the daughter of my master's brother for his son.

49 And now, say if you will do what is good and right for my master or not, in order that it may be clear to me what I have to do.

52 And at these words, Abraham's servant went down on his face and gave praise to the Lord.

57 And they said, We will send for the girl, and let her make the decision.
